Head gasket thickness
Hi guys,
So I'm suspecting that one of my head gaskets is starting to let go (separate topic in Engine directory), and I'm thinking to get a metal ones. Cosworth got them in their offer, but my question is what thickness should i get? Anyone one got a similiar experience with replacing the head gaskets on a supercharged engine? Of course I'm not relating supercharging to a head gasket issue, but i'm interesting to hear some other opinions. Matt@Cosworth - any recommendations regarding the head gasket thickness on this particular engine? Cheers. Mack. |

There may be a small benefit to going up to the slightly thicker gasket over the 0.71mm so reducing the ratio by 0.5 or so
but the tune will need a tweak to add more spark to make use of this and its not something I tested so difficult to quantify just what the trade off would be |

Nope! Cosworth never bothered to try and get it CARB certified. Though it works just fine with the stock exhaust. But I'm sure there you need some sort of stamp or sticker saying it's legal?

Edelbrock. Harrow was supposed to get CARB certified but idk what happened with that. Then again I don't need a CARB cert where I'm at so I dont pay much attention.

I have had no oil cooler in Texas for so long. Getting up to temp quickly is difficult. It is taking me about 20 minutes with venting holes in the undertray instead of hood louvers. Casual driving it levels out 200-215deg. On track I was seeing 270degF, and backroad runs are easy to reach 245deg. I recently installed a Jackson Racing oil cooler and the Greddy cold air snorkel. Even after covering my cooling holes on the undertray, oil temp is leveling out at 180-185deg with near 100deg days here. I might be covering the grill with tape to see if I can get something that is more street friendly until I get to the track. I am still on the 0w-20. I try keeping rpms at or under 3500 until its up to temp. What is a safe rpm range to warm up with?
