Map/Dome Light Dis-assembly/Phastek Performance LED Dome Light

20130201-PhastekDomeLightDIY-001 by VictorN07, on Flickr

It's been a while friends....

I know it's been done before, but I'm itching to use my new Olympus 12 F/2.0 with the OM-D. Therefore I'm back to do a silly DIY/Review for Phastek Performance's LED Dome Light. Thanks @Chris@Phastek for the professional service.

Let's get to it!

Product shots
Phastek incorporates dual pads for a total of 18 white LEDs

They come with double sided tape

The connector is spring loaded so I take it will fit a variety of cars

Tools:
Flathead Screwdriver
Blue masking tape

If you notice on the previous picture, the assembly has one side raised. Without correcting this, the pad on the drivers side will be further away than the other side. You can insert anything (box, cardboard, whatever) to level the playing field. I used a piece of mailing envelope and wedged it under the metal clip. Simple

Thoughts:
+ First off, it is very bright! I believe they are 5k color temperature
+ They fade to off like the OEM bulb
+ As shown above, it is very easy to install. Kit has everything
+ Dual pads are great for symmetry!

My questions:
+What do y'all think of the new camera setup?

It works, I love how it looks, and it might save like 1oz of weight. Unfortunately it doesn't add any substantial functional benefit.

I made a small cardboard box and wrapped it with some scotch tape and slipped it into place to make my surfaces, if I recall correctly, I did both sides so the pads rest against the clear screen
Edit: in the pictures above they have a little box too wrapped in blue tape

This was super helpful for the Vicious LED kit. For anyone using that, black is your ground wire and red is power. Thanks.
