Could be there is just more interesting political news to read now.

or it's more available and in your face than before.

I swear I can't go anywhere without hearing about some political BS in a place where it doesn't belong in the slightest.

That too. I know that I am far more aware of US politics than I ever was in the past. Hear more of that then I do ours.

I don't watch or read any news if I can help it, political or otherwise. I also refuse to have political conversations with people because I am extremely under-informed. I refuse to have an uninformed discussion because I like smart conversation, but I also refuse to educate myself on politics because they are painful, thus no knowledge = no conversations.

Oh, generally, I find that true.

Or, maybe I watch more because it's more "entertaining".

Reminds me of the story of 2nd Lieutenant Bailey. The members of his platoon would follow him anywhere. When they were asked why the followed such a dumb ass, they replied "just to see where he will go next".

Politics is all about narcissism and job preservation. Pandering to news outlets and respective political bases. It's all bullshit with very little constructive policy making, maybe a little thrown in to make it look good. Media is just a big lamprey clinging to it. If advertising didn't exist, youd get real news

I'd totally run for some office if I wouldn't be absolutely terrible at it. Yes, sadly I think too much and speak too little.

2nd Lieutenant Bailey was a real life officer, back in 1966, in the 2nd platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 13th Infantry, 8th Infantry Division.

He got made fun of a lot by 1st Lieutenant Patrick Keating, of Charley Company, a West Point graduate.

I scolded Pat upon occasion for making fun of him, because the young butter bar was trying real hard, but he was just a fuck up -
