I would also like to know the threshold of internals.
When should you think about upgrading the differential? |

I realize that. 7psi on a 2871 vs 5858 are totally different because of the amount of air going through the motor. My goal for power is around 250 to the wheels with quick response. I haven't seen a lot of people with similar goals. Yes there are kits that will make 250, but a lot of people upgrade to make more power. I find it also difficult to sort through all the material because A) there's a million pages B) a lot of side tracked comments and C) just differences in opinions. I could always call vendors, and report back.

Although people run more, I'd look into building the engine around 400whp.

I have an AT and I HAD a turbo. The AT can handle more horsepower than the MT. It just won't let you shift. I strongly recommend a supercharger instead of a turbo on an AT for one simple reason. Nobody has cracked the code of the AT controller, and it won't allow shifting under boost. That's right. Build up some boost and tap the shifter and nothing happens. Flog the shift paddles and floor shifter under boost and still nothing happens. Until they crack the controller code, I recommend supercharging the AT's, since you can quickly let off the throttle, shift, and get back on the throttle, without losing boost. The ideal setup however, would be a rear-mounted turbo acting as a muffler, feeding into a FMIC, then into a supercharger. It could be run with stock exhaust, so could be CARB legal, and you could still pass DEQ with it installed. For cool-looking high horsepower, setup, you could use twin turbo's with air scoops above the rear fenders.

So, for the AT's I don't recommend just turbo's or superchargers. I recommend BOTH a rear-mounted turbo, with a front-mounted intercooler, and a supercharger.

What? We've turbocharged a lot of 6AT's, and never had that issue.

For AT's I recommend running all of them. Start with am electric supercharger for early torque, then a traditional supercharger for mid range power, ending with a large turbo for top end and a shot of NOS here and there for when you need the extra edge.

Can anyone else comment on the AT not shifting at boost?
