I would be embarrassed to admit that I was that dishonest, but YMMV.

It's never really had "logic" with kids, regardless of generation. That's what being a kid is all about. I think "maturity" is what you're looking for, but unfortunately growing old doesn't necessarily guarantee maturity, as much as everyone likes to assume so...

It wasn't a moral decision on my part. The car still drove, I figured I might as well trade in ASAP while it was still worth something; whether it was worth its weight in parts or whether it was worth the amount they gave me all depends on whether the appraisal was correct, or the mechanic. They originally offered me $2500 for the beemer, but along the way that amount got doubled; not sure if that too was an error on the dealers part, or whether they decided to help me out since I was about to walk away. I was not trying to deceive them, I made it clear upon first meeting that I wanted to get rid of the BMW because I no longer wanted to put up the exorbitant amount it takes to maintain one.

I'm conflicted too. I can't believe how predatory dealers are. Hopefully they spot it and fix it on their dime.

Best mood you can do is finding some awesome Canyon carving roads near you and get to know your baby. I promise as you get better driving it more and more of its awesome potential will be revealed. I wouldn't worry about mods that sems to be pretty addictive and kinda pointless on a car so perfect stock. It's basically a roller coaster whenever you wnt if you have the right desserted roads near you

That dealer knew exactly what he was getting. He put $5000 on the deal, but he probably gave you $1800 ACV, which is what he will get at the auction for it. I was a used car dealer. I went to scion with my 03 Boxster. They gave me $15600 on paper but sold it auction for $11000 which I knew was the ACV on it. It is a way of getting around "True pricing ". FR-Ss are going through the auction for $17000 to $21000. If he took your FR-S in on trade, he probably didn't pay more than $15000. It still works out to be a great deal for both parties.

I figured it might be something like that; dealers are out to make as much as possible, I'm sure they knew what they were getting into with the BMW, and offering me that amount was advantageous to them. Everyone went home happy at the end of the day.

What was 325 doing that made a mechanic say it needed a new engine but still drove and an appraiser did not notice?

Vanos rattle?

It had been having the ticking sound in the engine for a while, but the morning of on my way to work, I lost power, even when putting the pedal to the metal. Basically limped into work. When the tow truck came to pick up though, he had no problem driving up the steep incline of the bed. I really wouldn't be surprised if the engine was shot; on the other hand, it might be possible that all it needed was a tune up and some oil. Either way, I'm glad to be rid of it.

If the Vanos system has an issue, it's a very expensive fix
