Reverse cable dropped. Am I screwed?

So I was replacing the reverse lockout sitting in the passenger seat, and thought I had the shifter in reverse so the cable wouldn't drop, but it turns out I was in first. Is there a relatively easy way to get to the cable?

Can you see the hole in the reverse cable at all? Something similar happened to me (I don't remember if i was in reverse or not) and I was able to get a paper clip into the reverse cable hole just enough to be able pull it back up enough to get a punch through it

Right on the money! I couldn't see any of the hole with the white/yellowish plastic pieces on the shaft, but after removing those I could see just enough of the hole to get a paper clip through. Thank you good sir!

I panicked for a second because I've heard horror stories of getting reverse cables up on other cars!
