Why??

While Im still in the hunt for a new vehicle I have to ask myself; why is there so many used FRSs out in the market...I barely see any on the road but I see more at a car lot thats not a scion or Toyota...anyone have a good theory?

Not enough power? I've seen a few used BRZ too. The asking prices that I've seen for a used FRS/BRZ are outrageous.

because its just outside of the reach of young drivers. just a hunch but i would imagine that there are tons of kids buying the genesis, ms3, frs, etc. being new to the world of debt and the real world, it becomes evident that cars like these arent a good choice because they werent thinking about things like cost of ownership and income stability etc.

Variety of reason of course but let's not rule out folks also trying to profit from flipping the car.

I'd assume since Scion dealers aren't allowed to mark up the car, they get them titled to make them a "used" car so they can sell for more. Many Ferrari dealers do this.

Just learned something new today. And that's some bs if some dealers are doing that.

I saw one in person with very few miles on it. The salesperson said a woman traded it in for a Genesis Coupe (was a Hyundai dealership) because it was too cramped inside for her.

I've seen some here and there on AutoTrader. I won't complain though. Waiting for them to come down to 18-20k.

This too. I saw a BRZ "for sale" and in the comments it was noted that the car was on order and wouldn't be sold until it was delivered to the first owner, then paid for by them and sold to the person who bought it on AutoTrader. So in essence, selling a car that didn't exist yet for several grand markup. I reported the listing and it disappeared rather quickly.

Surprisingly there are very few on eBay so far, I count only 17 Scions and 5 Subarus and none seem to have too bad of a mark-up. All but three or four are brand new cars with under 100 miles though.

dealers let higher up people use them for few weeks and then sell them as used car, I found out about this thru my friend who is now a director of sales in Mercedes just like Jon posted so they can sell them more and fast.

There are several reason.

1. People buy this car to get more money than whatever they bought it for due to high on demand.
2. Like Jon state, dealer can't raise it up the price tag, so they'll make it "used" and sell it higher
3. People who bought cuz of the hype and figured out that, it doesn't have much hp as GC, Z, Mustang or other cars and don't want gutless lightweight cars.
4. After they bought the car, they were surprised to see how expensive the insurance was and didn't want it anymore.
5. They bought the car but... owner literally screwed a gf and few weeks later find out she's pregnant (true story, search).

...that's all I can think of
