Or best just to line the rear seats with some other material and 'glue' that to the trunk mat? Ideas?
I would get some rubber matting from Home Depot and trace the rear seat section and make some holes that fit the existing plastic rivets (circled in red).

I should have taken a before/after picture, but these mats are a dream to clean!

Over the past few weeks there's been several snowstorms (And another one today...). As you can imagine mine was caked with salt, sand, mud, melting ice, rocks, and a few twigs. Why did I not clean it? Laziness...

But I went to the manual car wash, put it up on the floor mat hangers and sprayed them down (and continued washing my car). Looked brand new! Flung off as much water as I could and back into the car.

Thank you very much! Great idea.. and that combined with the towels should keep things dry and sand free. Cheers!

Unless you remove your street shoes and bag them before getting in, you're going to be dragging in grit and dirt every time you get into the car.
Only had mine a couple weeks. No snow or sanding out here, but there was still dirt and tiny rocks in and around the stock floormats.
Took the vacuum to the whole works before installing.
Should be much easier to clean out and things won't migrate down into the carpet fibers.

Google diode dynamics, they have a website. I think it was an extra $3 to get custom writing.
