Pricing varies by area, but one thing to keep in mind is you'll likely get what you pay for. A reputable detailer with good reviews is probably going to charge somewhere in the $200ish range for a car this size. That'll likely include a wash, decon, clay, correction, and wax (either a synthetic or carnuba). Possible it'll also include some interior services but that'll vary as well.

Could you spend $50-100 for a "Polish and Wax" at the local car wash? Sure, but just like when a dealership "details" a car they're going for quantity not quality.

Guys, off topic question about oil change. I bought my frs used at 5,000 miles, I have owned it for 8 months and have 11,100 miles on it now total. I have yet to see the oil change icon appear. I checked the car fax on the previous owner and it didn't list any oil changes he/she did. I drive the frs daily and aggressively, so i know earlier oil changes are recommended. I do oil changes at a shop because I prefer it and cant on my own.

Why hasn't the oil change icon appeared even after 11,100 miles?

I've gone past the recommended oil change mileage and time between oil changes and haven't noticed any light on my 2013 FR-S .....

I think that dripping oil can light is for oil pressure, or lack thereof (indicating that your engine is well on it's way to imploding).

That's not a service light.
If that comes on when the engine is running, it means you don't have any oil pressure.
It's warning of immediate self abuse. Shut down now!
There is no oil level sensor in the 86. If there were, we probably wouldn't have been issued a dip stick.
(mfg. penny pinching)

That's how it's always been since the 50's and before new-ish ECUs started being installed.
If people are confused by alternate meanings, something is going wrong anyway.

Get a few jugs of oil and a Fumoto quick change valve.

Didn't even know there was a dip stick for this car. When i tried it, I barely got any oil on the stick, there was almost none. Better get an oil change done asap!

How often do you guys check the dip stick?

........

First off, locate the dipstick ...... then make sure the car is on the level and it has been shut down for a spell ..... then pull out the dipstick and wipe it off ..... reinsert the dip stick and pull it out again ....... looking carefully, take a reading off both sides and average them ...... add oil if necessary.

I check the oil level immediately after an oil change...... then not again until after the next oil change ...... unless I see oil on the floor under the car.

Hey guys Gotta quick off topic question, didn't want to make a new thread just for this.

I was at a red light, and a v6 mustang pulled up and started revving and wanted to race. Hahah
Just for fun, so I smoked it at the acceleration and didn't get a chance to shift into second gear, so I went into redline and felt the gas pedal didn't work, or respond, I quickly my put it in neutral. What caused this? Did I do any damage to my car? This has ever happened to me, and I never get close to redline, or tried accelerating this hard before, ever?

Thanks again! Sorry for the so many questions!

First off, dinfern22 .. .... don't race mustangs on the streets.

Why, because most of the time they will beat you .....

I reckon your car hit the rev limiter and shut the fuel off.

Why did it do that ..... so it wouldn't blow itself up .....

Did you hurt your car ..... no ..... but I wouldn't make a habit of hitting the rev limiter.

I suggest you set your red shift light to come on at about 6,500 rpms and shift when it lights up.

Now, behave .....

Finally got around to washing and waxing my car!

After washing i used the clay bar, but it picked it literally nothing at all, the bar still looked brand new after claying the car. Though claying only helped a little and the marks were somewhat visible though less.i think some hand polish is in need next car wash. I then glazed and waxed the car.

Oh man, this glaze and wax really makes the paint pop, makes the pearlescent color glow!

Thanks for all the helpful advice guys, appreciate it!

Looks good, there, dinfern22 ........

A clay bar is not intended to pick up stuff you can see with the naked eye ...... but more of removing impurities you can't see directly with the naked eye.

If you have "stuff" on your car you can "see" ...... you should wash it off before you use a clay bar.
