I joined Nasioc forum right before I bought my AT WRX in May 2003. Can’t tell you how many times we had these same threads of AT vs MT. 17 years and the arguments on both sides have not changed much. Just human nature I guess.

One thing I see from it that we can all agree on is: it’s better to have choices than not.

I don't believe in choices. There should only be automatics since my mom and sister cannot drive manuals. My macho dad should go buy an automatic daemon or something. Manuals are for wimps.

My Mom, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and Wife all drove MT cars most of their lives. It's really not a big deal. Anyone can learn to drive an MT is 30 minutes with the right instructor.

HEY! I have a copyright on that saying!

And they did it without synchros, power assisted clutches, dash gear indicators and all the other aids cars have had for a couple of decades now that everybody takes for granted while whining about other nannies.

My grandmother would smoke half of the millennial asses on here with her heavy old 64 Galaxie 500, 200hp 289, and three speed stick. She had a whole different version of "granny shifting" going on.

Actually there should only be manual as that would get rid of all the whiners in a big hurry.

Totally man! That's why my dad never puts his DCT on the manual side. The guy may act senile but he's no fool you know.

With a clear plastic cover on the bench seat to keep it from getting dirty.
No bolsters! WTF!
Even before having a seatbelt to dangle out the door while driving!

Yep, back when I started driving, the average person didn't have a choice of transmissions, the only after market choice was whether to put the shifter on the floor or leave it on the tree -

And some of our grandmothers/great-grandmothers, did it with three transmission pedals on the floor -

No difference between driving an automatic vs driving a manual at 6th gear the whole time if you are on the highway. I drive in Toronto and have no problem with a manual. As an "enthusiast" car, in a world where more and more cars are going automatic only, it is an oxymoron to buy this car for it to drive like any automatic compact / SUV.

No judgement, but the people who bought an automatic either

-Were not comfortable driving a manual (Which is fine)

-Didn't buy the car with their own money and had to share the car with their mom or sister

Facts.
What's more regretful? Buying an auto or making a post this stupid
I know which one I would rather do

I think a lot of people who think they are good at the ol' driving stick, would be quite humbled driving a non-synchro transmission. I know I was.
