I got my helmet from HMS Motorsport too. Great shop they have there.

Also, I'm all signed up!

I signed up for one in Ayer on Sept. 15th. It's my first autocross. I hope I signed up right. It asked me for pax and all that, which I really don't understand. I listed myself as Novice, since this will be my first go, and CS (or C-something). I think that's right, no?

I need to buy a Snell rated Helmet, and it doesn't matter if it's M or SA, or anything, long as it has a Snell rating, right? So, once I buy that, and show up, as long as my car passes inspection, I'm good to go, right? They can't turn me down for never doing that racing school stuff?

Actually FR-S / BRZ go to STX not STR.

I'm just listing common mods here...

You can be CS with the following allowed mods are (not an exacting list but pretty close to it): cat-back exhaust, 2 way adjustable shocks, 1 sway bar, oem crash/camber bolts, race compound tires (DOT approved).

If you are running street tires (140 + treadwear), I'd recommend RTR-C Stock (RTR-CS). RTR = Road Tire RWD. This is an interim class to help pave the way for C-Street which will debut next year. Basically Stock Class is going to street rated tires only.

You are in STX if you've added any of the following: air box, non-solid brake rotors, brake calipers, larger rims, coil-overs, springs, aero aids, 2 sways, strut tower brace, bushings & other things not listed for stock.

You are in SM if you've done any of the following in addition to STX: had a tune, boosted, changed gearing.

There are other classes like Street Prepared but most here won't be in that state of tune.

Okay, well I haven't done anything to my fr-s. Tires are the stock ones. Michelin. Primacy hp. Only things I've done are cosmetic, a 0.8" antenna, and some red stuff to the inside. Nothing that could be classified as a performance mod. So is cs not the right classification then? If I show up and say "hey, I'm new and have no idea about this, could you change my pax to whatever is correct" would they do that? I don't really care too much as long as I get to drive. I'm not concerned with winning or lap times. I just wanna have some fun.

Yea, so the way SCCNH works their stuff, just go CS. Their CS is road tire already.

Some information about scheduling from Howard Roundy of SCCANH,

  • You may enter NHMS at 7:30am. Stop at the entrance and sign the track's waiver.
  • We open check-in and tech at 8am and like to wrap it up by 9am.
  • Check-in is done at our trailer in lot S1 (on right as you enter the track). Sign our waiver, get an arm band, get a work assignment and pay if you didn't pay online.
  • Paddock and tech is at the back of lot S2 (second lot on right) by the gazebo.
  • Walk-through can normally be done shortly after 8am.
  • We like to do the driver's meeting around 9:15-9:30 and get the first run off as soon as the course is manned.
  • You will get two sets of runs (morning and afternoon) with 3 or 4 runs in each set.
  • We have been running three run groups this year in a work/run/off sequence. This means we are running all day and your lunch break has to be in your off period. If we get enough entrants, you work either morning or afternoon which gives you an extra off period. Run groups take 60-75 minutes.
  • We finish between 4pm and 5pm and are totally cleaned up with awards shortly after 5pm.
Getting excited!!

Haha, I had a nice surprise when I saw an SCCNH group email arrive yesterday, saying that "the GT-86 club" was joining. I've been running with SCCNH for a few years now, first with an '06 tC, and then with the FR-S since last June (RWD is definitely more fun).

Here's a picture from last September's event:

@DaveEstey, are there spectator areas in the lots used for autocross at NHMS? And does SCCNH allow spectators for this event?

I'm curious to know this also. I know we have at least two photographers who would like to go up and get some shots.
