If you are really worried about it, bring it over, I'll see if it has the latest flash in it. That goes for anyone nearby with any Subaru.

Regardless, I really don't think you have anything to worry about.
Damn I wish some techs from Socal were on this forum to offer that. Move to Socal?

All this ECU talk is making me concerned. I don't think i've gotten any reflashes and i've had my car since June 2012

No concerns regarding Subaru dealerships flashing the newest ROM or no concerns with the old ROM causing issues when the motor is used frequently in the upper end of the rev range?

Any chance you can check on mine this Saturday when I bring it in? Just for ***** and giggles, and so I can show the forum that you're a stand up guy

That would be me. I've been quiet, because I was trying to deal with a warranty denial as well. My dealer was going to make me pay $110 diagnostic fee, because they thought it was my Perrin intake tube. The following day, I was told the popping went away after they replaced it with an OEM intake tube.

I wouldn't accept this diagnosis, and was pretty livid with them. I pushed back hard, and the service manager immediately contacted Toyota. Toyota agreed to do a teardown and check the injectors.

I just received a call back from my dealer, that 1 injector collar is disintegrated...1 collar is burnt bad and pretty much gone...and the 2 collars on the passenger side are in tact and look good.

Dealer placed an order to have all 4 (??) injectors replaced. My service manager was very cool, and pushed further because of my persistence. In the end (through a lot of frustration), I'm happy with how they're dealing with it.

Problem is, Subaru and Scion/Toyota are separate entities, and operate completely independently as far as we're concerned.

RAWR_BRZ is getting his misfire issue (presumably injector collar/seals gone bad) denied by Subaru for warranty coverage as well.

Well, to be fair, we had ZERO issue getting our first motor warrantied... and the CSG BRZ and RAWR_BRZ's car are only two of thousands of BRZs sold.

Just to be clear, does the latest ECU flash, available to US dealers, contain the mentioned updated changes in transient retard tables?

If so, what is the latest ECU version #

Thanks

There's been no TSB released in the US, hence no new reflashes. So hold tight, take a deep breath, and give your car a break.

Quick update.

Apparently our cats are both destroyed. Now what could cause that....? I'll be dropping by the dealer on Monday to get more pictures of the additional teardown. Someone else at Subaru of America (not Bill, the rep I was talking to) authorized more teardown.

On the flip side, this, in a way, does prove that we do indeed have a STOCK engine... we obviously didn't remove the cats :p
