Then you clearly haven't tried the right American beer - there are breweries here that make amazing beer in pretty much every style known to mankind.

I love trying new beers, with the darker it is, the better. (Except Guinness. I hate Guinness.) I am also not a fan of IPA's. My favorite beer ever is Julius Echter. It is a wheat beer brewed in Wurzburg, Germany. I had the pleasure of being stationed there for 2.5 years in the mid 90's. I would like to see what other people like to drink. List your top 5 or 10 favorite beers. I will start off.

1. Julius Echter Hefeweissen and Dunkelweissen (Germany)
2. Magic Hat #9 (Vermont)
3. Heavy Seas Marzen (Maryland)
4. Abita Purple Haze (Louisiana)
5. Stella Artois (France)
6. Michelob Amber Bock (Missouri)
7. Highland Gaelic Ale (North Carolina)
8. Barrel Trolley Amber Ale (California)
9. Heineken (Holland)
10. St. Pauli Girl (Germany)
11. Almost any German Bier
Honorable mention goes to Coors Light.
:happy0180:
If you aren't a fan of IPA's, I still suggest you try Green Flash West Coast IPA. That is awesome, and many people I know who typically hate them will drink it. I would replace Magic Hat on your list with it, because even though I love Magic Hat as a beer to be paired with food, I can drink Green Flash by itself.

As far as Dunkels go, I really like Franziskaner (probably didn't spell that right!), but there are many that I like. Easily drinkable beers, they are.

And spot on with the Purple Haze, for a beer with flavors added, it is one of the best.

Lagers, on the other hand, really taste the same (all should really just be cold) and aren't really made for flavor, Stella is a good one, but it's about the same as Heineken, IMHO.

...but it is a contender! Although their bacon one is even worse. Pink bottle and all too. Point in case, stay away from beer in pink bottles (Delirium Tremens doesn't count because it's only the elephants!)

IMO, MGD 64 is one of the worst ever made. and 3%? Might as well drink my piss after an Arrogant Bastard, it has more alcohol and more flavor.

That one is pretty good, but you'd better really, really love hops. It's among the hoppiest beers I've ever had.

I've not had any of the Enjoy By xx.xx.xx IPA series, but @thejevans tells me it's amazing.

It's not my favorite IPA, but it's pretty darn good. Dogfish Head 90 minute is better though, in my opinion, as is Pliny the Elder. I also really like Wookey Jack and Double Jack. I'd definitely recommend trying an Enjoy By if you get the chance though - if you're a hop head, you'll probably enjoy it (I've had it a few times, both bottled and on tap).

lately I'm liking more and more microbrew stuff, ever since I stop drinking at home (due to my daughter) I end up drinking with friends on local microbrewery, this weekend I got to try mad lab.

I finally was able to source a bottle of Ommegang's Iron Throne and a couple bottles of Take the Black. Iron Throne tasted kinda like their Gnommegang blonde ale but...rougher. It had a coarser mouthfeel and the hops were a bit more present. An excellent brew. Take the Black was also very good but as I'm not big on stouts I don't really have a good frame of reference.

I also found a bottle from them I've never seen before called Goudenhop. It's a very hoppy Belgian blonde ale...probably the closest thing to an IPA they make (as Belgians don't drink IPAs). I thought it was excellent, and I know they'll probably never make one to sell but I'd LOVE to see what they can do for an actual IPA.

This coming weekend I'll be cracking open my bottle of their XV - 15th anniversary ale. I've been holding onto it for a couple months waiting to get a couple of my buddies together to open it. Very excited!

You have great taste. FYI, Double Bastard hits the shelves today. Cheers, mate.
