If it isn't a pure blue, he likely mixed green coolant in with the blue Subaru coolant. OEM coolant has no greenish tint at all in it.

Damn it's frustrating that there is no pictures of the coolant on google. If you search "Subaru blue coolant" all it comes up with is the bottle and not the contents.

Anyone have a picture of what the coolant is supposed to look like?

It's quite opaque when viewed inside the reservoir canister. This is with a flashlight shining straight down into the canister.

Poured some out into a shot glass for you. Took pictures under different lighting conditions to rule out the red tint in the shot glass distorting the color.

Under fluorescent room lighting:

another alternative is pentosin.

http://www.pentosin.net/f_antifreeze.asp

I use the NF in the 'other' cars in the driveway and in my 06 h6 with the additive. saves me from having multiple jugs of dealer branded markup.

pentosin sells pre-diluted blue meeting SOA868V9270

blue stuff has been around since the vanagon! http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site_5/C...ntifreeze.html

mixing coolants, green and blue, will make mud.

Oh what a sigh of relief; my coolant looks like this! I guess I was just looking at it from a weird lighting last time I checked the coolant making it look turquoise. hmm.

I bought a case of ATE "Blue" brake fluid a couple of years ago.
It is BLUE.

But it has been made illegal in the US because someone mixed up the fluids and poured it in the wrong system.

I used to like being able to get ATE Blue and/or Gold so that you could tell when you were done flushing the brake system because you could alternate colors.
