Oh and here's my question(s) for the day. So I noticed last week that Xur had an exotic engram for like 23 mote of light. Is it worth buying? I mean, I know it's an engram but my fear is I'll get a piece of armor for a Warlock or Hunter. I really hope it would be a weapon, but I'm assuming it can be armor or a weapon. So just seeing if anyone has insight on this before I drop the mote of light (assuming he has an engram available this week).

Xur's stock is pretty lackluster, nothing we haven't seen before except Truth rocket launcher. I hear it's great in PVP but if I'm spending coins on a rocket launcher it's going to be Gjallahorn, that thing is just badass.

The engram was for helmets. I got a snazzy warlock helm (which I'm now using), so I'm pleased, but it's random class, so YMMV.

Screw the RNG. The game provides all the vendors you need to outfit yourself with great high end weapons and armor. You just have to put in a bit of work. They even throw you a bone with Xur even if he's part of the RNG.

My RNG luck has been mostly terrible, as far as purples I've gotten 1 gauntlet and 3 rocket launchers and 3 machine guns. Not exactly useful. But i bought my exotic helm and Icebreaker from Xur, bought my purple armor from vendors, bought my Shadow Price from the Vanguard guy and i'm about to pick up The Devil You Know. I'm very well equipped now.

Purples are the meat and potatoes of this game, exotics are just showpieces.

Yeah, looking at the stats between the two you are pretty much right. I also got my Vanguard rank halfway to 3 last night so I'm going to focus on getting that up to 3 this weekend so I can start buying legendary weapons. That's my one weakness right now as I'm still using rare weapons except for my Red Hand IX.

What class are you? If you gunning for lvl30 your best best short term is to grab an exotic helmet since the 30 light raid helmets only drop in the hard mode raid.

The engrams he has only ever seem to be chest or helmet, I doubt we'll see weapon engrams from him anytime soon. It's a pretty big risk, only a 33% chance it'll be for your class and then an even smaller chance it'll be the piece you wanted for your class.

Titan and that's my worry. I don't want to drop a bunch of mote and end up getting something I can't use right now. I figured maybe I'll just buy a helmet and be done with it. I have to do a bunch of strikes to work on the exotic weapon bounty first so that's a win/win upfront because it will get my Vanguard rank up and will also work towards Invictis.

What happens when you dismantle legendary gear? I kept the 2 pieces I got yesterday, figured I would either save them for when/if I ever start other characters or I figured I could dismantle them in the near future if I can get something useful out of them.

And I found out last night, by accident, that you don't need a team to get into VoG. I could tell a team was doing it because of all the shooting so I wandered over to observe, when I got there they had already been let through the gate but it was still open so I wandered in. Of course, you can only go down so far as a solo after the gate closes behind you. After wandering around inside I went back to the gate and could tell another team was starting the Raid so I just sat there waiting for the gate to open. When it did, I think I kind of surprised a few of them as they rushed in and saw me standing there waving at them. A few of them stopped and turned around to look at me as they were going down into the VoG. I then hopped out before the gate closed again.

Got a weekly done with Ninja last night. A legendary Engram turned into Monte Carlo for me, which I was stoked about.

Unlocked Third Eye on my Devil You Know. Radar while aiming is a beautiful thing. I think I'm holding onto this for a long time, or until I get a Last Word.
