automatic transmission affected by chirping too?

also, if I end up buying the 86 used, auto would be a safer bet right?

plus all the issues reported with certain gears being a bit stiff, again auto with paddle shift I do not mind at all.

the high end Ferraris and Lamborghini's are using paddle shift so if I had the money to buy a Ferrari I wouldn't complain one single bit.

there is nothing else out there for the price of an 86. this car looks awesome. I wish they had it in purple

Just because someone owned an automatic doesn't mean they didn't thrash the car. I've said many times that there are a number of cars I would buy used but the FR-S isn't one of them. It has attracted too many people that think 'driving it like you stole it' is what the car was made to do. If you buy used from a private party you will at least have the opportunity to see the owner and form an opinion on how the car was treated.

Not necessarily.. Transmission type has nothing to do with the HPFP chirping. High end Ferrari and lamobs use automated manuals, not slush box types like these cars.
The manuals are fine in these cars , gears can be stiff when cold but work fine at operating temps. The automatics are a good choice as well.. Depends on what you need/want.

The chirping noises from the engine compartment is made by the fuel injection system that's running on extremely high pressure just like any other car that has a Direct Injection system, and sometimes there are unfamiliar noises like this, when things are not your common port-injected engine as in traditional cars.

It has nothing to do with the transmission, or the choices you make on which transmission you choose.

Lamborghini had a special Balboni edition Gallardo, named after their famed test driver, which was designed at his request. It was RWD with a 6-speed manual.

Funny, but true. If there is even a hint of rice about the car that would also be a warning sign. On a positive note, that means there will be lots of parts in the junkyards in a few years. ETA: My AT has the pump chirp, but I could not care less about it. Klotz Uplon or E-free gas shuts them up.

I treat my car good, but I do drive the piss out of it. An I would think an auto in a car like this is more likely to get thrashed by someone who is new to sportscars and not as likely to know how to take care of it well.

park next to something, i.e. a drive-through fast food establishment while picking up a snack. If you have chirping, you'll hear it reverberating. If you don't hear it then, you don't have it.

I don't have chirping either, at least not yet since I only have 100 miles on the car right now. The only thing I have notice is that the car sometime gives off a smokey smell after I drive it, but I think it is the car being broken in, or at least I hope it is.

Yea, I "hear" you.....

Either my car doesn't "chirp" or I just can't hear it....

@SloS14 gave me an idea. The next time I drive through a burger place, I'll ask the person if they hear chirping ..... then again, maybe I won't......

Which begs the question; if my car chirps, and I can't hear it chirping ..... is it really chirping .... ??

If you have a Costco around you, try them. Costco gas kills crickets.

I haven't noticed any chirping on my car. If it has it, it's not even loud enough to me to hear. 2014 brz with 1030 miles on it, running on CA 91
