I like that quite a bit. I think I might give it a go as well. I just didn't want to spend $400 or how much ever they cost for the Prova chicken wire ones.

I just used a dremel with a nice cutting wheel and painted the exposed metal and inside the fender hole. It even looks better lol

If the high heat takes it's toll on the double-sided tape, an alternative to the tape is this glue called "Amazing Goop", it's like "Shoe Goo", a rubbery based glue that holds better than epoxy, but has some give to it.

It's easily undone with toluene on a Q-tip which won't hurt the paint.

I think the combination of both would be ideal. A vented hood in this car really does nothing aerodynamically, but it does keep the engine bay cooler. The vented fenders would help keep air pressure under the hood lower to keep the hood from flexing as much as I have seen them do so. Of course most FR-S/BRZ's won't be running around at 120mph+ but in the cases that do I think that the combo would be beneficial.

I was talking with another member today about making those functional vents on our personal cars…I'll wait until spring to give mine a try. Right now I have a vented deck lid.

Just to make sure, Vented hoods aren't beneficial for an innovate SC right?

Vented hoods are beneficial on any car to help prevent heat soak and also aid with aero by reducing lift.

I guess i should have been more specific. Would it be similarly beneficial on a SC as it would be to a turbo?

I am not an expert, but I think it depends on whether you have an intercooler and what kind of driving you are doing. And also the kind of gas you are using. I have the innovate sc, no intercooler, and crappy 91 octane gas. My car is a DD and on hot days I get heat soak. I would hope that a vented hood would help somewhat for that, especially in stop and go traffic where not a lot of air is flowing through the heat exchanger (once I get an intercooler). So, I am planning to do both the vented hood and an intercooler.

It is to my understanding from reading on the innovate SC thread that these cars start to drop in performance after a number of dyno runs due to the heat it builds up from the lack of an intercooler, which was why i asked the question about SC and vented hoods. Obviously the lack of intercooler = high heat, but it cools the SC in a different fashion since it doesn't provide direct air on to the unit itself. Would this direct air flow be similarly beneficial on a twin screw unit as it would be on a turbo? I'm guessing not, but i am wondering if it helps moderately enough to purchase a vented hood.

what happens if the vents let water get on to the air filter of the turbo?

I believe Varis Japan has some nice vented hoods. Maybe you could find a vendor or a website because I'm not sure where I can get one :P

I don't quite remember exactly but there's a vendor on here since I got a quote for a varis body kit. Just so you know, it'll take a couple months to make since they only do made to order.
