hmm don't know if this is true, in some dealers it's not. I've seen people negotiate and the dealer wouldn't budge since for them it was required in their network. So they just lead the buyer to another dealer that might be able to work with them.

could just be they don't wanna work with these people.

I know I was wondering the same thing. Or next year provide different options/trims. I'd love to get a TRD one with some BRZ Limited goodies.

It's really growing on me...apart from that interior.

And it looks really good on those TRD springs. I need to get my STI pinks soon!

However, I'll give this salesperson (who seemed like a nice guy) the benefit of the doubt and perhaps what he meant to write was that they receive a lot of lower priced vehicles (like the 86) with port installed add-ons, and if I pre-order they'll make certain that a vehicle is delivered w/o stuff I don't want; probably a generous assumption though, more likely/obviously they're just looking to make an extra few $s (also shopping for a new 2016 FR-S late this past summer I saw models w/ all kinds of accessorizing like e.g. hideous hood, roof, and rear deck wide stripe paint appliqués).

I'll move on to a different dealership, however as mentioned I'm having hard time finding a 2017 86 as "bone stock" in SE Florida (every dealership seems to tack on stuff I don't want or need, e.g. rear spoiler, expensive ToyotaGuard, etc.).
I live in Florida as well and had the same issue when I bought my 2016 FRS back in June. I wanted a bone stock car without any of the things Southeast Toyota likes to add at the port to increase their profits. You may have already done this, but I was able to use their website (http://southeast.buyatoyota.com/) to find the exact car in their inventory that I was looking for. My local dealer then swapped vehicles for the FRS I wanted, which was in south Florida. I got to keep everything local, work with a salesperson I liked and they gave me a very good deal on the car. The only downside is the extra miles added to the car in getting it here, but for the convenience of the deal it was worth it.

Good overview, didn't miss anything I could think of. The comment regarding the steering wheel being real leather made it sound like the previous one is not. Pretty sure it is though. I prefer the look and purity of the earlier one without the buttons. I sort of feel like we are comparing an AP1 to an AP2. Many people believe most purists prefer the AP1.

Yes I like extra features, and I do have most of that stuff in my other car. However, the quality I most appreciate in my FR-S is the ride, and that completely blurs the manual climate controls, no steering wheel buttons, less dressed up cabin. Not so sure I'd be as happy with a fully equipped, but all-stock twin if I were to update..

For me, driving a car with more content is a completely different experience from the raw visceral feel of my FR-S as it is presently. I am just a set of coillovers away from completing it. (note to self, the Meister R's are back in stock, time to pull the trigger). One is not a substitute for the other. I am just thankful I am able to enjoy both experiences.

The badge and the LED headlights of course long way overtime should've had it from the start.
