I went with this place because they were convenient at the time, and their price for ceramic tint was $189, and it has a lifetime warranty against fading/peeling.
http://www.eliteautospaatl.com/about.html

BUT, honestly their shop looks pretty ghetto.. it's super small and I didn't feel safe leaving my car there. The area is not bad, just the shop itself looks "unclean".. The workers themselves were fairly nice & courteous to deal with too.

Just thought I'd share so you'll know what you're getting into if you go there. And the photos on their site are NOT indicative of the place itself.. I think they have a chain of stores in other regions/states, so MAYBE the photos on their site is from those other locations. BTW the only photo that's actually from their Northside Dr location is the one in that URL link above.

As for the tint itself, I've had it on my car for several months now with no problem.. and the workmanship looks very professionally done.

Hey so is anyone going to opt-in to that new Georgia vehicle title ad valorem tax? i.e. paying a one time fee instead of a yearly tax. According to the calculator, it looks like if I own the car for 5 years or more, it would be cheaper to opt in for the one time fee than pay annually. I would assume it would be approximately the same for everyone else

I plan to do it, because I almost always own a car at least 10 years. My problem is my tags renew in early March so I've got to face the "early adopter" lines. ugh.

It's on my calendar to check on this on March 1st, when the new law goes into effect. It's my understanding that the taxes you payed on your car last year will count towards the new fee, so you will qualify for the ad valorem exception and not pay anything.

Use the ad valorem calculator to see what you would owe, if any.

Correct. As long as the sales tax you paid on your car after January of 2012 equal to or higher than 6.5% of the cars sale price, then you should be set.

Right. You have to pay the difference between the taxes you paid and 6.5%, so it will depend on where you bought the car.

No it wasn't on there actually.. Since I bought it from out of state, the dealership just told me I'd have to pay the tax of my state separately when I went to my local DMV office to get my car tag.

BTW, GA's tax rate is 8% for new cars bought from out of state, and I was required to pay all of it before I got my tag.

It doesn't make sense not to opt into it, even if you don't keep the car for a long time.

Either way under the old law or new law you still have had to pay at least a 6% upfront cost whether it was sales tax or now 6.5% title tax (assuming you had no trade in).

At least if you opt in now, you won't be paying ad valoreum.

Still have to buy the sticker every year though. $20. For now... I can see them going up on that price though.

Yea, two different things. One is the license fee, the other is property tax. They just collect them at the same time.

I'm converting both Olivia (FR-S) and Hellga ('04 Suburban) we bought in 2012 to the new tax.

I'm tempted to reregister Reba (wife's Mustang) and Kyra (son's Accord) and pay the sales tax just so I can avoid the annual tax. You would have to transfer it to a different person and change the title. Haven't done the math on those yet.
