Technically, in CA, no —any modifications to intake and exhaust systems are prohibited. In practice, I doubt any officer would notice the slightly raised intake manifold and send you to the ref for it.

I had these installed by @Drift-Office last week with a custom tune and acceleration at the race track was slightly faster; very slightly and mainly in 4th and 5th. So, IMO, not a worthwhile mod.

My other mods are OFH, drop-in filter, Mishimoto intake tube, Perrin OP and resonated 2.5" exhaust.

I think I remember reading that this mod is good for untuned cars

ah, finally proof in data from another thread of what I've been saying.

That using power blocks drops your top end power.

I don't think anyone ever contested that. From my understanding it shifts the power band to the left ..

Yea, I think everyone agreed that these cause top end loss, Crawford just never mentioned that when these came out. But with the OFT tune modified according to shivs instructions you only lose 1-2 hp up top but get 10-15 hp near the torque dip.

Did the heat soak only occur with the supercharger or in general? Or maybe quicker with the jrsc?

Yea, but if you actually tune it "you can have your cake and eat it too" because instead of losing all the power up top you only lose 1-3 hp

Do these really heat soak? Did someone take tests of it? I thought all it did was shift the powerband to the left?

In general after repeated pulls. But it was much worse with the JRSC
