Hit a new personal best at my "home" and favorite track, The Ridge Motorsports Park. After viewing the video and checking Racechrono data, can see where I could make changes to see if I can get into 1:59 |

This was my 1st time on track in a year so it took me a bit to shake off the rust. Speeds over 100mph felt almost foreign to me. Was braking WAY too early almost the entire weekend. My best lap was a 2 min. flat. Most of my rolling laps were 2:02-2:03 in 105 degree weather. Car actually ran really well when it was only 90 degrees in the morning and could go a whole session. But after temps hit 105 and I had the track to myself I had to do 1-2 cool down laps for every 2-3 hot laps which I don't think is bad considering it's still a street car and it was hot as hell! Every time coolant got over 230 I would back off and after a quick cool down back to 200. At the end of the 2nd day I finally got comfortable and realized how much later I could brake and how much better that would set me up for the turn in. Also I always struggle with bus stop but I feel like I had a real obvious but cool breakthrough at the end the 2nd day. I realized if I just stop focusing on where to put my left tire in relation to the curb and focused all my attention towards eyes up looking at my exit angle to really get on it before riverside without upsetting the car seemed to be key, EYES UP! But by the time I figured this out it was 105 degrees and my tires were losing grip. Still managed to stay out for an hour at the end of day 2 by myself just doing 2 hot laps followed by 2 cool down laps repeat. About 70 gallons of ethanol came out to 140 laps, not the 180-200 I was hoping for but still not bad. Lucky it was 2 days because the first half of day 1 was wasted. Somehow I immediately boiled my fluid first session out and lost the brakes, rear brakes were smoking horribly. Not very confidence inspiring. Luckily they have a shop there. Swapped brake fluid even though it had Motul in there I guess it was no good anymore. Also had to remove the metal shielding spot welded to the inside of the rear brakes, was creating an oven effect and not allowing the rears to cool. By the afternoon the brakes felt good again but something was still not right. Didn't feel like I had full control of the car even though all traction was suppose to be off. I'm running Motec ECU and from what I can tell there is no way to have VSC 100% off with CANBUS integration. When the factory traction control and motec traction are off somehow the factory VSC still kicks in and applies the brakes! That's why the car has felt so off and I've been swapping sway bars and thinking it's pushing for the last 2 months!! And that's most likely why my rear brakes were cooked! The only real solution we came up with is to have the Motec traction activated and turn the wheel speeds all the way up giving me as much wheel spin as I want. Effectively giving me no traction control or VSC so I had total control. My tuner who was at the track with me works with race cars only and couldn't understand for the life of him why I wouldn't want the Motec traction on and just be flat everywhere! In his world all that matters is lap times! I had to explain to him that fun and car control are what matters to me, (ok maybe laptimes a little). Will only get 10-12 days a year. Last problem is my axle seals leaking diff fluid. Should I just replace the seals or go back to stock rear axles? I just got DSS 600 hp axles. Next up is Motec dash and JRZ dampers plus driver mod. Track Videos - Directory and Discussion
Track: Mid-Ohio Club Course - 1:43.50
Car: FRS Mods: JDL 4-2-1, 400/350 MCS 2WR, 17x9 RPF1s, 245/40 RivalS 1.5, APRacing Sprint Kit DS1.11s Note: First time tracking the FRS. Last track event was with my Z4M 6+ years ago. Been doing a ton of autocross so car familiarity is there, but just a bit less out of touch at the higher speed corners (primarily T1 and T11). ARX Event was hosted there a month or so ago, coupled with low 50 OAT left the chicane and keyhole a bit slick Open to comments/suggestions [ame]https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mp8AVx1-Vfs[/ame] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Track: WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
Car: 2013 BRZ 86DRIVE Challenge Street Class Build Mods: ACE A-350, Tein SRC 10k/12k, 17x7.5 WedsSport SA-35R, 225/40 GTRadial SX2, Solid and Spherical bushings everywhere Note: This was my first time back to Laguna since my crash last year and only my second time there. I drove extra conservatively all day (early braking, bigger lifts, etc.) to relearn the track, get comfortable with the new setup there, etc. I still managed to set a new PB almost a full second faster than last time even with a passenger. I had planned on switching to 245 SX2s on Weds TC105Xs for the last session to try to best my laptime, but I unfortunately broke 2 wheel studs while removing the wheels. Time for an ARP upgrade! Anyway, enjoy the lap! [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-mP7CCbQ9U"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-mP7CCbQ9U[/ame] |

Sorry to hear of your accident but I am glad you are back at it. At the time of the incident, did you have any of the electronic driving aids on? (VSA, TC etc) Track mode?

Really cool seeing BRZ/FRS/86 killin' out there. I am hoping to get into tracking soon, with places like the FIRM and Sebring so close to me the only excuse is time haha.
Great content in this thread guys! |

Video from the last track day of the season last year. Not the fastest driver, but it always look so much slower on video. Cant wait for more seat time in a few months. got an open track a little after the 4 minute mark, which was nice. |

Was able to get out to NCM this past weekend with Chin Track Days.
First weekend for NCM since COVID - So I think the track was a bit green. Super hot as well, which I guess makes the track a bit more greasy. Off a bit time wise from Matt Busby (track manager who used to own a BRZ and posted a 2:20.1). I doubt he's still active on these forums but curious on the conditions his time was set in. Anyways:
