1300kg is heavy for a supermini 3 cyl turbo, should be 900kg.

I bet there will be a rally lite version as an option.. I can't wait to see this little thing whip some established hot-hatch royal ass..

The BMW i8 3-cyl gas engine puts out 231 PS (Source Wikipedia), so I don't really see a more recent, tuner car, being capable of extracting 260 from the 1.6.

Gotta tell ya, I LOVE how the 3-cylinder engines reminds me of 6-cyl units. It sounds awesome!!!

Even thought it seems to weight 1300kg, it doesn't seem so heavy considering it has AWD and turbo. Even battery and "water" reservoir are on the back.

Although I've never really like the Gazoo Racing or GR tag, its not like TRD-USA has been doing much for the Toyota brand other than springs/struts and body kits.

Just found this source points towards 1100kg, not 1300kg:

Yeah, seen this write-up, see post #7. I'm really excited by this car.. it has a lot of potential, just hope Toyota don't spoil it with some stupid specs or naff detailing that detracts from the pure driving pleasure..

They bolt on to the actual wheel? Much like the stuff that the 80's and 90's rally cars used to wear.. 'Turbo vents'...

I'll put my thoughts in the Captain Snooze format, albeit sober:

1. GRrrrr-Yaris is a good way to refer to his car.
2. If neither this nor the mid-engine Hyundai hatch come to the states, I will be upset.
3. The video and the topgear writeup were very encouraging. It seems like they're doing things differently than Ford, who IMO really blow it on the driving feel aspect of their hot-hatches.
4. A 15 inch wheel + appropriate brakes option would be awesome.
5. Interior looks pretty good. Nice seats.

Basically, I want this.

Based on the Top Gear article, and if you do a straight lbs to dollars conversion, this would an over $40,000 car.

I'm out at that price.

In the UK I think it'll sit around £35k!! And, I think they'll sell 'em as it will be a limited production car. Much like Renault Mégane (UK price starts at about £50k and tops out just over £70k).

It looks like 1. you sit too high, which is a problem with a lot of small hatchbacks. 2. and the visibility is not too good, definitely not as good as in an 86 and that's a problem.
