I'm close by there. It's getting to the mid eighties. Chirping isn't coming back at all for me and it's been 3 weeks.

Temperature was part of the chirp scenario so this is a positive thing, thanks!

I think it's safe to say that Toyota finally fixed the issue chirping. #TheChirpIsOver

Dropped my car off for its 60k maintenance and fuel pump replacement, pump replacement is cleared under warranty (and $1400 parts and labor for just the pump, holy crap). Hopefully will be back in it this evening.

I'm at 59,000 miles now on my 2013 FR-S. Should I go ahead and get my fuel pump replaced? It used to chirp a lot, but hasn't done it lately.

You should. If anything, you're getting a new HPFP over the 60k your current pump has sustained.

FWIW, I brought mine in at 59,948 miles. No crickets since then, and that was 7k ago.

Thanks! My only concern is it won't chirp when I take it to the dealership and they'll try to get out of doing the repair. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

It'll depend on how nice you are to your dealer.

Noob question

Hey guys sorry for the dumb question. But i have a substantial amount of mods that i can't remove on my 2013 FRs. If i take it in for the fuel pump chirp would they still take care of it? And would i have to bring anything to the dealership. I have never done any service at a dealership before

My service manager used my audio recording and accepted that. So that sets a precedent. My service was done at Holman Toyota Mount Laurel, NJ

I sent this email to him when I saw the TSB on here.

Jamie,
Here’s the link to youtube video I made. I recorded this on Aug 8 2015 just a month after I bought the car. There is valve train noise that is prominent but if you listen close you can hear the high pitch “cricket/chirp” sound described in the TSB. Using headphones would help with hearing it. The sound is very loud in person and almost drowns out the valve train noise at full warm up. I hope this is enough to start the process of getting this taken care of as it really does drive me and other FR-S, BRZ owners nuts!

Here’s a link to the forums I’m a part of showing the multitude of owners needing this done. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111525 and http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107724

Thanks for all your help and when you get an answer back about please call or email me.
I got a call from him the next Monday with the okay and to bring it in. Maybe it will work for you or someone else on here.

Depends how nice your dealership is and what the modifications are. If they aren't modifications to the fuel system, your chances of getting it done under warranty are increased. Just remember that your warranty cannot be voided, but Toyota can deny claims under warranty if they can prove your modifications affected the fuel pump. However there is large precedence that the fuel pump chirp has affected modified and unmodified cars alike.

Be nice and professional when you take the car in, but know what you are entitled to with your warranty (how many miles do you have anyway? I am at just about 60k and I bought mine in September of 2012). Keep in mind that if you are no longer in the warranty period, the HPFP replacement will not be covered under warranty.

Took my BRZ (2016) to the dealership to have my fuel pump swapped out and they said it already had the new pump installed (my vin was on the list of vins to have the swap done). Whether it was true or not, I have had crickets since after break-in.
