Hi

Anyone got any photos of the 2017 stock headers and diameters of the new piping?

Thanks for help.

I have a almost completely stock system on my 2017. Only difference in a catless unresonated front pipe. It sounds really nice in the cabin and is still quiet outside.

just get a catless header and keep the stock catback ?

not sure how long stock cat in header will last with turbo or SC setups.

It's not wise to leave a close coupled cat in place with a supercharger. Just swap that out and leave the overpipe, front pipe, catback stock. I have my 2017 with a Tomei and Harrop SC and aside from the cold start, it sounds almost as quiet as stock - even with the blower.

however, if you do want a 17 header from my recent PP BRZ let me know. It has just at 500 miles on it, and its sitting on my workbench. I just installed an ACE 350 header this weekend. So OEM 17 header is available.

3mm seems a nice size increase, inch conversion for us non metric Americans. Is it worth switching over to the 2017? I want it to make a difference, maybe faster revs?

For NA purposes your really need to ditch the cat to get the performance but I some benefits for a supercharged setup, especially if you want to clear emissions as well

Why is it not wise? I've seen a few threads on here showing little to no gains between stock and aftermarket headers on a supercharged FA20.

I can tell you that my HKS EL catless header with the stock FP is noticeably louder. I have the Vortech SC installed and I'm seriously considering going back to the stock header to make it quieter.

To be fair I have the RS1 quad tip exhaust which was pretty loud even with the stock header.

Thread revival

Wanted to harbor some thoughts from you guys. I've recently been looking at a Tomei EL header for my 2017+ brz which has the updated header from factory. According to this thread, the new oem design has larger pipe diameter (per post #2) starting from 45mm to 48.6mm. The Tomei is only 42.7mm to 45mm, which would be smaller than oem. The only advantage of the Tomei would be the removal of the cat.

Would that mean stock headers would potentially have better performance, sound aside.

I've went from a HKS header 42.7/50.8/60 to a MY17 catted and decatted back to a HKS. The torque dip from the OEM header is huge even after punching out the cat. If you are want to run EL for around $600 if you look around, I'd go HKS.
