My belt is a little over a year on on approx 14k miles. Since priming the SC I have heard the noise. The noise can be heard on starts and peaks between 2000 - 4000 rpm. While driving if you quickly let off the gas it gets a lot quieter. If you hold the RPMs steady the noise remains.

Tonight I removed the tension pulley and a lot of dirt fell out of it. I was surprised how much. And I also removed the pulley below the alternator. I cleaned both with shop towels and nothing else. I also flipped the belt to the other side.

Started the car and it squeaked so I gave up for the night.

The idler pulley does bounce but I thought that was normal.

Any suggestions on what to try next?
Sounds like a dirty belt, or possibly, you may have inadvertently pushed a contaminant into the bearing on the pulley.

Clean the belt carefully, and if the noise remains, it's the idler pulley.

Out of curiosity. What's the highest output someone has done with the JRSC kit on 93 octane pump fuel?

I've been theorycrafting for the past month and I'm unsure of what route to go for my wants and needs. I know for sure I want to maximize responsiveness and I know that I want the power to be as manageable as possible. Sporadic torque is fun and all, but I'm not looking to fight against the car all the time. Trying to make a DD/track/autocross car, which will turn into a full time autox/track toy once I pick up a truck as a backup daily.

I do have a couple of milestones I'd actually like with FI. First is 275-300 and second is 400-500. The two options I'm considering are the JRSC and the Full Race EFR with the T4 67/58 kits. I'm sure with either kit, I can tune it to drive how I want it to, but I'm unsure which is optimal to maximize the car and meet my expectations.

I believe the c38 kit on e85 hits around 370whp, so I'm not sure how much further it can be pushed past that. I'm vaguely remembering an old dyno sheet though, so I'm most likely wrong.

Gotcha, as much as I like the idea of flexfuel. I'm dont feel that I'm ready to jump on the E85 train for awhile. At least until I know E85's market reach/availability has grown to the point where I don't have to search for it almost everywhere I go.

Yeah. I got lucky enough that there's an e85 station about 2 miles away. I'm also curious to see the different stages between NA, NA e85, FI, and FI e85. Oil cooler/rad combo and Delicious e85 ACE kit is on order and after I have some fun with those it'll be JRSC time.

We've done ~305whp on ACN91, and ~365whp on 100; you can very crudely extrapolate maybe 325whp on 93.

JRSC C30 + HBP + Ace header (ceramic) + Ace front pipe + CSG quiet muffler prototype. 100% stock engine.

Don't tease me Mike. I was expecting to be closer to 280whp on 93 with an ACE header.

EDIT: Never mind, I wasn't paying attention to the HBP part.

I thought the HBP needed e85 and internals?

Don't expect those kinds of numbers unless you're spending a TON of time on tuning. These are not typical, or average results. Rather, it shows what can be done.

The reflash count on the CSG BRZ is well into the hundreds, and that doesnt take into consideration at multiple maps are loaded per flash, as well as some live tuning hacks that are utilized.

Nice! So I'm guessing if I truely wanted to push into the 400 realm I might as well build the motor.

I actually stumbled upon the Harrop thread after my post this morning, and now I'm torn between full-race, JRSC, and that Harrop.

Good thing I have plenty of time before I decide on what route I want to take.

People seem to also have issues with the transmission after 350-400 WHP, so thats something else you should consider....

(My BRZ is still NA, just repeating some info I've found while on these forums.)

If you will be tracking this then the JRSC is the one you want. Produces the least amount of heat, Is the most reliable, And has been track proven time and time again.

The CSG BRZ is over 400whp on E85, but yes, I would recommend at least a mild build for that power level.
