Dealer shouldn't hassle you with your mods unless you're reporting an issue that may have been caused by one of the mods.
OK, John hasn't sent me that updated version yet but that's very helpful, thanks!

Looks like I can hold off on this until my next service appointment.

Vin 2166, got my email yesterday... MySubaru shows the recall - I have 5,200mi on it and do let it warm up on cold mornings (still take it easy the first 5-10min depending on temp to let the trans / rear end to warm up). I'm wondering if it's a recall for Northern states with a typically colder temp?

I do get a weird idle sound from the DI's, but no CELs... only issues I've had have been stuck / squeaky windows, squeaky dead pedal and the TC kills almost 100% of the power when it slips on the salt / sand they have on the roads now - a complete danger as the car decided this morning to cut the power and almost stall pulling out of a gas station when an 18 wheeler was headed my way... I turn off the TC now.

Maybe we don't pass an OBD II with one cat if we change our exhaust system.
They may map the ecu according to its demographic (they have small tweaks for elevation and climate), if true, thank you subaru and toyota for going that extra mile to make sure we have our hp numbers

I know there's a handful of states, just not sure which. When you buy a car in MD it's "California spec" on the order sheet. This shouldn't matter for Subaru because as of last model year I think all of their vehicles are 50 state vehicles.

He was going to notify Subaru of the wording about 2011/2012 vehicles in the FAQ section of the wqc39 notification.
He did not say anything about certain states when I called. ALL VIN's is what I was told.

Maybe this is a cover up for the cel/cam issue?

Instead of publicizing the more severe issue, they provide a flash for a silly coolant issue that just happens to contain a fix for the rough idle problem...

Cover up is such a nasty phrase... But pretty neat how that worked out. There is a Subaru executive getting a great holiday bonus for creative thinking.

Eventually all new cars will have built-in WiFi and they will auto download the latest ECU revisions just like the rest of our electronic devices.

Or you could just tell the car to jump on to peoples cell phones and go over the cell networks.

P.S. I got this notification as well, Oregon, BRZ, going in on Dec 11th.

Then the gov't could just tap in and read your ECU while you're driving and send you tickets based on GPS location and vehicle speed sensor without ever having to see you actually speeding.

THEN they'll just remote control all the cars so we don't even have to drive. I SAW THAT MOVIE!!!

Ahem...what were we talking about?

I have not been notified yet. If you don't mind, when, by mail or email, and what part of Oregon?

My email notification came in on Dec 4th but it was chalked up as Spam, I just found it today. I logged into My Subaru to verify that I indeed did have a recall announcement. I wonder if you have to be registered with MySubaru to get the recall by email? Willamette Valley

Nope. Subaru's been sending me emails since I ordered my BRZ in March. I assume they have some backend systems that have your email and the VIN of the car you ordered.
