My Dad borrowed my '77 Honda Civic wagon back in the day for a quick beach trip. On the way back he had a Styrofoam cooler with ice and about 30 lbs of Spots develop a hole so all the "fish water" leaked into the carpet. He didn't realize it until he got home 2 hours later thinking it was just the cooler that smelled. That took a lot of shampooing.

I had a company car (80ish LTD Wagon) that brother-in-law borrowed for a quick run to get gas for the lawn mower. Spilled a near gallon of gas in the back of it. I should have just thrown a match to it but instead had to replace all the inside carpet.

What I learned from this is never loan your car to anyone who wants to carry anything.

I once got my mercedes hardtop coupe back with a few liters of white house paint in the trunk. I figured the smell would go away if I just left it with the lid and windows open for a few days. It didn't. But the gunk cured nicely.

Same but it was from one spit take. Went down the wrong pipe. I cleaned most of it but I still have some spots on the clock.

Add pickles and you've got yourself one horrible smell. I've only heard the stories though, what happens when it happens in an accident and you're not allowed near the car, so it sits for days in Florida sun. Then the insurance company tries to say the smell is fine...

Headed up to Canada for work for the rest of the week. When I first heard about the field inspection I thought, "Oh, I'll probably just drive around the lake somewhere in Ontario." But, no, I'm flying (9 hours each way) to mid-western Alberta. I hear the weather is much better this time of year than when I was approached about it in February!

My friends and I are betting whether I'll see a twin that far north
