Most of that crowd can't afford the new Xbox and Forza 7, let alone a $30k Ford.

But, I think the Ecoboost makes a great point, to get a 300hp RWD 4-banger onto a showroom floor ain't cheap, Ford and Chevy can't do it for less than $30k with an existing platform and an economy engine that comes in a <$25k eco-box. Everything is lined up for them to make that car as cheap as humanly possible and they can't.

I bet they'll be cranking them out in 2020.
2006 comes to mind- that's when Toyota discontinued the 7th generation Celica, after 7 model years of sales (00-06).

At that point the Celica was less a sports car and more a 2-door economy car, and as far as I'm concerned Toyota continued to make the Celica until 2016, 8th and 9th generations lasting only 5 years.

The 2ZZGE is not an economy car engine.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, as obviously there was no 8th or 9th generation Celica.

Are you thinking of something like a Scion tC/Toyota Zelas?

I've never posted on here so bear with me a bit if I post wrong.

Thanks in advance!!

Not sure if this would help, but I was in a similar situation long story short I'm keeping the BRZ. But recently I was about to purchase a property and I needed the extra money so I was going to sell the BRZ. I have a 2017 Limited 6000 miles on it and I took it to Carmax at the beginning of June, I guess in my situation I put alot of Down on the car, and when Carmax wanted to pay 22000 for the car I would have broken even since I owed just about that amount. I didn't get that propety and decided to keep the car for now.
Therefore, I don't think they'res anyway you would benefit unless you sell it to a PP or you owe less than what the market is willing to pay. Best case scenerio is you make some money otherwise, depending on how much down and the trade was worth you might break even.

Good luck.

Sorry, 2ZZGE was in many Corollas, the Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe. Yeah it's a great engine and they put it in the Lotus' for a reason, same reason the 4AGE was in Formula racecars, the BMW M10 was the most powerful F1 engine ever, that doesn't change the fact that they were mass produced for economy cars.

Yes, when the press releases and all reviews say "spiritual successor to appeal to millenials" I'll read that as "we changed the badge because marketing said this would work, we just want to keep building this car".

I've already met more than one person who couldn't visualize "86" in that logo, but their brains DID process a swastika.

And now, Godwin's law has been fulfilled on this thread. Congratulations.

This thread is depressing. I don't know if it's because of the brutal reminder of losing $$$ the moment you sign the paperwork or the fact that this poor guy selling his brand new car. I'd keep the car unless I absolutely couldn't afford it financially. CA has lots of driving roads and your situation could change.
