If you don't see your car, shoot me a PM with your car number and I'll double check what I have. I've been doing things a bit differently lately so I've been getting a lot of unusable photos (out of focus).

Here are a few select images:

The rest can be found on my website:

If you would like a digital copy at a higher resolution, with or without watermark, let me know.

As promised, here's the results from the first three NorCal 86 Cup events, and the updated standings as of the latest event (Round 4)!

Round 1 - March 13, Sonoma Raceway (horrible weather!)
Round 2 - April 17, Thunderhill West
Round 2.5 - May 30, Thunderhill 5-mile (Thunderschleif)

Looks like we have some healthy battles going on in the GT Radial Street and Modified classes. Hope to see more of you out there at the next events!

I'm happy to announce the new website for NorCal 86CUP! The site is going to provide the most up-to-date schedule, rankings, and timing results. Soon, we will also have an interactive points calculator to help drivers determine what class they're in. Feel free to leave any feedback about the site so that we can make it better!

So, I was asked about joining the 86 cup, but I have a question. I have a "stock" Release Series 1.0. It came, as ordered with factory TRD sway bars, TRD Air intake, TRD aero, etc.

These are all OEM / stock for that model 86. I used the NCRC calculator to account for my tires and wheels, which are the only aftermarket parts on the car. According to the rules and calculator on ncrc, this would classify as stock. Does that hold true?

The RS 1.0 aero pieces do incur points, but you are correct; you can still be in the stock class depending on the tires you run

What wheels/tires are you running? Please be specific.

Damn. Does the Stock class typically have low to no turnout?

This season, we haven't had anyone run in Stock class yet, but maybe we'll have a contender soon.

Guess I'll stay out of it. I have too much fun with those wheels and tires and am not going to give up that fun or join a highly competitive Street class at only 1pt of upgrades.

Thanks Mike for the clarification.

86CUP isn't about min/maxing; most people just drive in whatever class they happen to fall in.

yeah I'd encourage you to join 86CUP and do it for the fun... I'll be honest I am not hyper competitive in personality and I'll never be as fast as some of the other guys in my class... some seriously gifted individuals in this, and it almost doesn't even matter what mods they have on their car, they will just straight up be faster than me, even in a stock car. Yet somehow I took home 3rd in class two years in a row haha. (Constant attendance helps)

I'm not in it for the trophies, I'm in it for the camraderie, the spirit of competition, and the motivation to push myself to be a better driver. Not necessarily a better driver than others, but better than I was before. It doesn't cost much to participate above and beyond what you're already spending to do track days (no registration costs at this time, just the cost of timing equipment), so why not do it?

Thanks to everyone who braved the heat and came out to Round 6 of the NorCal 86CUP at Thunderhill West! It was a scorcher on Saturday, with the temperature over 105º, but many drivers still ran great times or personal bests.

As you'll see in the results, the lap times were very competitive, and the competition is heating up! Great job, everyone! Visit our website at http://norcal86cup.mkivsoopra.com for the complete details and current standings.

On a side note, three of our drivers participated in the separate SpeedSF Challenge, and all three took podium finishes! Congrats!

Thanks to our host today, Speed SF Track Events, for organizing a safe and fun event, and to Bill Wang & crew for taking the extra time to do the photo shoot at the end. Stay tuned for some awesome photos!

As usual, thanks to our sponsors for making this all happen!
