The thing people are missing is how much we get for a meagre 25k and thats the best part of our car.

The v6 mustang is gonna weigh at least 3400lbs(IF you can get rid of 200lbs)... you could reasonably get 420-500 hp with a S/C or turbo charger, that's gonna put you right at $30K

5K more in mods ain't gonna get the handling there and the 20-100 hp more wouldn't get it there even in a straight line.

If we up the budget to 40K or 50K you're looking at weight reduction down to 2300 lbs and coilovers, etc... on the frs...

Now when I look at this, I'm not talking about running 20 lbs of boost or 200 shots of nitrous.

I look at what can reasonably and safely be done on pump gas ALL the time.

that means, no electric S/C's, no nitrous, etc...

Given 40 or 50K budget, it's reasonable that a new short block with slightly lower compression and stronger internals could be used on the twin, safely allowing for 14-19 psi boost upping the HP into the high400's or even 5-600 hp range.

So I don't see how this is even a question. RWD with light weight, with low introduction price, makes the twins awesome goodness for tuners...

It's so easy first, you get a new Camaro 1LE for about $34-35k (new) you can also get a leftover car for ~$30k(2014) and put a Rotrex SC kit for like $5k, upgrade ZL1 Brembo upgraded calipers and bigger rotors for about $1200 (I know..that's the beauty of the domestic cars), Z28 coilovers with DSSV(Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve system that is currently being used by Redbull F1 Team) for $2200 , bushings and bigger sway front $800, Z28 wing $300, brake ducting $300, Z28 splitter $400-500, race seats $300 (Corbeau Fx1pro), harnesses about $300 at that point you don't only beat any coupe below $50k at 540rwhp/485rwtq but also beat the new Z28 in performance figures which also beats new 991 Turbo and New GT-R trust me that machine will wipe anything on the road and track, especially in the track !!!.. if that power is not enough for you, you can always get the aggressive cam upgrade with GM factory warranty (before adding a SC kit) and add about 100 whp on topf of that haha...if bang for the buck is what you're after

here's a good article, keep in mind stock LS7 on the Z28 only makes about 460rwhp/420 rwtq

Isn't the 370z a horrible car?? I forget who, I think Drive on you tube or some other channel...but they compared the FRS against the 370z and another car...and they had a lot of bad things to say about the Z - heavy mustang-like handling, crppy steering feel, bad placement of interior design (seating position, steering wheel placement, dash, gauges), unresponsive chassis feel, numb to the road driving experience, sluggish motor, etc, etc etc. Sure doesn't sound like a great car to me. More luxury, chrome and leather than performance it sounds like.

But, all the things I've been reading about the new C7 sounds phenomenol if we are talking about different cars that are affordable. I never liked domestics...until I've researched the C7. ...seems like the best bang for the buck, money can buy. Many many functional performance features (dry sump, ediff, big brakes, awesome new motor, nice suspension/dampers/a-arms all around, composite chassis, lightweight, very nice aero, cooling on everything (trans, diff, etc)...nicest looking Corvette yet..more similar to European/Ferarri even Japanese styling, than the older gaudy 70s-90s disco looking vettes.

So to sum it up, the FRS is a deal compared to old cars, but you get what you pay for compared to current cars?

Sounds like it's priced right.

Apologies if this was posted already but its worth a repost regardless.

With decent tires, differnt front pads and a good driver, this otherwise stock 86 lapped "The Ring" quicker then a Porsche 993 911.

That is quite hard to believe as the 993 is beautifully balanced, has a huge grip out of corners advantage and a power advantage.

I was on the track with a 993 just the other day. It was on inferior tires to the 235 AD08's so the BRZ had more traction in the corners. He was a superb driver (watch his car control in the corners). Overall, my BRZ (stock except for pads and tires a the time) was faster, but in this case it wasn't a fair matchup due to the tires. But was fun!

So the general consensus is when comparing our car to cars a, b, and c that our is more aboutbthe driving experience and less about the numbers. With that being said comparing our car based on car magazines and car stats is like comparing our sex life to porn we jerked off to as teens.

Nice driving man!

To put the 8:36 time the 86 did in perspective:
8:39 Honda S2000
8:38 Honda NSX
8:36 Volkswagen Golf Mk5 VW R32 MKV DSG
8:35 Opel Astra OPC 2.0T (240PS)
8:35 Ford Focus ST
8:32 Porsche Boxster S

They should slap some FI on there and see what that does!
