Convertibles are too wobbly.

I have been looking for a good Hardtop Supra for years because I have felt the difference between it and the Targa Version.

I definitely will be sticking with a Zx6 Coupe when I finally do get one.

No on convertible. I love the classic lines on a coupe. I do not like cowl shake that is prominent on convertibles due to the additional flexing of the chassis. I like my privacy.

I can't think of a faster way to ruin a sports car faster than by cutting the top off. Sports cars are "supposed" to be driver's cars. Driver's cars need a rigid chassis to give the driver the best possible feedback. When you cut the roof off a car, the chassis's rigidity is severly dimished and the only way to make the chassis rigid again is by adding reinforcement to the underside of the car which adds a ton of weight. the added wieght makes the car feel more sluggish and unresponsive as well as loss of acceleration. The twins are already underpowered and adding even 100lbs of weight is noticable.

I've owned two convertibles and while they were fantastic cars, I've regretted not getting the coupe in both cases.

- 1996 Camaro SS 6spd
- 2001 BMW 325ci 5spd Sport Package

I will never buy another convertible again! Even the BMW leaked after a while!

Absolutely not. Mostly because I live in washington state where it rains ten months out of the year and you've got to be out of your mind to own a convertible.

But also because convertibles make me think of sebrings. And hell no.

What you say is true of a lot of sedans modified to convertibles. The lack of roof has less of a penalty on a car designed from the start not to have one, especially when the cabin is very small.

My Miata is stiffer than the 240sx hatchback that I had before it and I don't have a problem with cowl shake. Mine does have additional underbracing - I'm not sure how much difference that makes.
