You don't NEED a gear if it's only to slow down unless your maxed out braking. Like if you are entering in 6 and leaving in 2 you don't need to hit every other gear on the way down lol. The only gear you need is 2...

If only I could predict the future and know exactly when the traffic will start moving again. Why do you think modern autos downshift through each gear when slowing? To... get this, maximize engine braking and to avoid the lag required to get it in the correct gear when you get back on the throttle. Even my unsporty Suburban downshifts through each gear when coming to a stop.

Serious question, how are you accomplishing this? Do you just heel and toe rev match as you're braking and let out the clutch and accelerate?

or

Are you just clutching in while braking and then slipping the clutch out to drive off in second?

Heel toe if I have to but most of the time I just take my foot off the brake and press the gas to rev match. Depends on how hard I'm driving.

That was literally me this morning at 5:30 AM, heel toe downshifting around a corner on my way to pick up a McGriddle...

I feel personally attacked lol

Well, not that I think anyone needs to go to McDonalds, but I do think it works pretty well as a destination to make fun of people like me who like to pretend that every other corner is the corkscrew at Leguna Seca.
