lightweight wheel suggestions, ~17x7
I've been trying to find a decent wheel set for my White/Halo FR-S, but I'm having a hard time finding something that meets all my criteria:
* 17x7 or 17x7.5 so I can put my 215x45 Indy 500s on - I really don't need anything wider * light, under 17lb - If I'm gonna pay 500-1000$ for a set of wheels, I'd like them to be an upgrade to my stock ones & a bit better structurally for track days * not stupidly expensive - up to ~1000$ would be ok for a set * a color that's not too dark - silver, hyper black, maybe white? * I prefer 5-6 single spoke designs, but open My number #1 choice is the MR131 Traklite Motegis. However their 17x7s only come in black and bronze. Bronze isn't bad on its own, but not feeling it w/ the white car and although I like black a lot, I'm concerned that the contrast difference between it and the car color is just too great and would basically make the wheels hard to see. Second in my list are the RPF1s. They are more expensive but lighter. However the 17x7.5s look... weird, with the spokes sticking out of the wheel. Dunno, I'm on the fence about the looks of this wheel. For almost a grand, I should like it a bit more, right? Any other recommendations? People with black wheels, do you find that they look better in RL than in photos? Thanks!

Kosei K4R 17x7.0 +50 or if you want to spend a bit more 949 wheels. Lots of good color options and a decent offset

949s are 17x8. Do you think the 215 would be OK on them?

I am not sure. If your Indy's run wide maybe but I would let someone else make that call

Kosei K4R are imho a bit overlightened for cast wheel. Hence probably the reason they are easy to damage/crack. From one view that's no biggie, as they cost dirt cheap and one can simply buy replacements while staying with overall spendings within sum of more expensive wheels .. but i'd probably still wish for a bit stronger wheels. Imho something like Enkei RPF1 which are in your considering list already, are much better compromise weight/strength wise.

I ended up getting the RPF1s, 17x7.5. Their style is growing on me and you can't really beat those specs at that price

Congrats! I am getting 949's just because they look to be just as good as the RPF1s but not nearly as common. Mind I ask what offset and weight are the 17x7.5's? I am looking at 215's or 225's for tire size since I am staying NA.

48mm 15.2 lbs Initially I'll be wrapping them with my current 215x45s, but maybe I'll switch to 225 when I wear these out. https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...r=3797758048BS

I'd stick to the 215s, the 225 lifts the car up about half an inch on ground clearance and the sidewall is taller so it also rolls more. I don't like it.

well, before the upsize, I'd scrape on certain dips or driveways on stock bumper. After upsize and adding HT autos front lip, I've yet to scrape anywhere. Point of view from inside of car now feels like I'm in a wrx instead of a skateboard. :/

You sure you didn't get 245s? 🤣 215/45/17: 24.7" diameter 225/45/17: 25.0" diameter 245/45/17: 25.7" diameter < that would raise you 1/2" |

LOL, sure seems like I did...but nah theyre 225/45s. I think that the max performance rubber is just too much grip for the stock suspension and makes the car behave/feel odd compared to OEM slide fest.
