Can't say I've seen those two series. I started watching the second season, and it's meh so far.

The second half of both seasons is pretty garbage, but I thought both first halves were good. I think that's a product of combination of the various source material.

.hack/sign was just a bit before I got into anime, but I understand the premise to be basically the same (should probably watch that one eventually too lol).

I'm not talking lovey-dovey. I'm talking tragic. I like my anime tragic, the more the better. Violet Evergarden is more of a growth story with the tragic being what happened before. Your Lie in April is more about current emotions.

Idk, I guess I have difficulty processing emotions and social drama, so I like there to be a draw beyond the inevitable emotional rollercoaster.
