Rusty from Juneau here. I'm the new owner of a 2017 Brz. Only incoming mods are mud flaps, floor mats, winter tires, and an oil cooler. I got the car on monday and got through the first 1000 miles and even sort of followed the break in.

New from Newburgh, IN! Prospective buyer

Hey everyone! New guy from Southern Indiana. Almost certain I’ll be buying a BRZ to replace my 01 Accord V6 in a year (almost to 300k miles). Rode in a BRZ a local car group memeber let me check out (3 dealers bailed on me for test drives), and I loved the car. Interior felt great compared to the rattly one in mine, and was surprisingly punchy with the UEL header and tune she had on her car (I’d do the same mods with the OFT)

So, is this the right car for me? Daily driver, seems reliable, manual transmission, fun to do mods with.

Only other car I’m kind of considering is an S2K. Will be spending about 13 grand, which buys me a BRZ with 60-80k on it it looks like

Welcome!

First off, I'd like to mention that both the S2000 and the BRZ will feel a bit slow compared to the V6 in the Accord. Lol. The torque, especially coming from a V6 is just not there. However, they're way more fun to drive.

I've had all three actually. A V6 Accord coupe (6speed), a 2002 S2000 and now an '18 BRZ.

I can tell you that the S2000 was a lot of fun. While everyone says it's got 240hp (40 more than the BRZ), you still have to push it to redline with every gear to get the most out of that vtec engine. It does have that Honda reliability and is a great little car. However, I bought mine when I moved to Dallas from NY because I've always wanted to own a convertible in the balmier weather. I quickly learned that, for me, it's either too hot or too cold (yes, even in Dallas!) that putting the top down was a rare treat that I enjoyed only a few times a year.

Now looking back, I still prefer the BRZ. The power, while 40hp short of the S2000, is a lot more linear and progressive which makes for a better daily driver. Plus, the interior is easier to live with and with far greater creature comforts and features. The S2000 was as spartan as the first model Viper. The sound insulation, noise and ride quality is much better in the BRZ as well. It's also got a decent trunk and back seats, even if they are a bit cramped.

That's all daily driving and street life, btw. I've never tracked either car, so if that's your goal, I'd drive them both on the track first.

Good luck on your decision!

Thanks for the info! My car is actually an 01 Accord V6, with 200hp and 190 lb ft at 3,200 lbs. It’s not fast at all haha, I would expect a BRZ to feel a lot quicker. Those new Accords are quick though! And yeah, no plans to track, just serve as a fun daily, and do the UEL header, tune, and possibly supercharge in the future. I do need something that can function decent in the snow too, and it looks like people have had success in driving in conditions way worse than here with good winter tires

Purchased my BRZ last Monday and have been loving the car more everyday!
2017 BRZ limited with pp had about 17,500 miles.

Traded in my 2016 Mazda miata for it. (photo included)

Just got my 14' BRZ limited last Saturday.
Love it so much! Have been lurking in the forum for quite a bit.
Finally owned one after so many years of my S2000 and Evo.
Will definitely use this forum more to get maximum knowledge out of everyone here. Cheers!

Hey man. What part of Houston are you from? I'm on the northside off of 45

Montrose. Know anyone who would be interested in the stock wheels and tires? I sized up to 18". Scott

Hello everyone. New owner of a 2015 Limited White BRZ in H-Town. Coming from an E90 335i. Absolutely love the BRZ for what it is and can't wait to make it my own with a few mods here and there. Excited

Wanted to see how 18s felt without breaking the bank, so found these on Craigslist. I like the copper/WRB contrast, but it ain't for everyone...

BTW, the 18s ride just fine. I had a GTI and the move from 18 to 19 was awful, too stiff and bumpy.

Nice definitely stands out. Think I'll do something like satin bronze wheels on white. 18s do look pretty good, but I kinda like the "meatiness" of the tire on 17s. I'll see. Any plans on dropping yours a bit?
