Subaru's oem STI lip Spoiler
I'm thinking about buying the STI lip, skits and rear sides from the stealership, so some input from the community would be awesome. Are they worth getting or should I get the aftermarket clones. Figured since the parts are from the stealership, the build quality would be better then the aftermarket clones but i don't know since i haven't seen them in person.

Come to a local meet. There are owners that have both and you can see in person. |

I'm a try not to scrape lol. That was one of my concerns that leads me to the oem ones. Don't want to scrape real bad one day and hear, "crack!" If I were to get a replica version. I m see about going to one of these meets and see what others have and say about it them. Thanks for the advice.

You're gonna scrape once in a while no matter how hard you try, unless you just avoid driveways entirely. Just try to minimize it.

I like the look of front lips, especially the STI. If you want to protect the front bumper from scrapes then another alternative is Protek skid plates. A lip adds ~1" to the bumper, the skid plates only ~3/8". Easy to install. I have them on my FR-S. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ghlight=protek

I have the OEM STi front lip, and I scrape. Suspension is dropped an inch, and the lip brings the front leading edge down another inch plus. Heck, I've scraped without the lip, but driveway ingress/egress is even harder now, plus speed bumps, etc. So far the lip has held up very well, after 3 years, installed in July of 2015.

I got the Bayson R replicas. I couldn’t justify the cost of OEM and my front has two cracks from different driveway impacts, and multiple scratches and scrapes. My car is not a show car so I don’t care. Im lowered like 0.75 inch and am careful, but it is inevitable. Btw, the cracks aren’t because of poor quality; the driveway to a supermarket was like 30 degrees, and I tried to crawl at an angle forward, but it hit, and it practically tore off lol but survived. When I do a MY17 bunper conversion Ill get a new front lip, again, Bayson R baby.

My STI lip is so scuffed up but I don't sweat it too much. Get some fine grit sandpaper and smooth it out if it bothers you too much. It's what I did. But in the end, I don't mind it scrapping a little. After a few years I can always replace it.

After my bad experiences with my other cars lip I have been paranoid when dealing with replicas. Shattered because of a speed bump and wasnt even going fast. Broke my soul.

I have a Series.Blue, which came with all that stuff. I'm also lowered.
I have been very happy with it. The side skirt actually saved my rocker panel when I turned too sharply and didn't see a curb on my right. Just some scuffs on the bottom of the skirt. The lip has survived all kinds of stuff, including many scrapes, a few curb bumps, cones at autocross, and ice racing. It also survived 3.5 winters in Chicago, as this is my year-round daily driver. I've plowed so much snow, and hit so many chunks and it survived. It's VERY tough, and well secured. It finally met its match when I got too cocky this past winter and plowed through 8" of hard-packed, previously plowed snow at 35 MPH, which actually launched the whole car slightly into the air. I've since replaced it with another OEM one I got from someone for 200.

I've tried both (went through a few lips on the old car). OEM are MUCH better molded, better fit, better setup for attaching to the car.
Side skirts in particular. I hated the aftermarket ones, never got them to fit right. Gave up. Lip, the way the OE attaches is much better. I went out and purchased stuff to install the aftermarket one the same way. It still didn't fit as well, and when I had to get the new car set up I went OE. Didn't bother with the spats the second time around, they're pretty expensive for what they are.

Thanks for all of the advice guys, really appreciate it. I ended up buying the OE versions and it came out awesome. Extremely easy to install.
