Well, this is turning into a busy week.
Monday our daughter went from an urgent care center to an emergency room to being admitted to a hospital. She has a some sort of bacterial infection that they are trying to isolate. So, the granddaughters are here full time for the last couple of days and a few days to come. In addition to the regular school runs, I have been busy taking them shopping to buy Christmas gifts for school friends, taking the older one to get her braces adjusted, attending an after school recital, taking the 3 year old with me grocery shopping to give ma-ma a break, running the middle one to her pharmacy to get a prescription filled, taking all of them to visit their mom in the hospital, taking them down to their house to get more clothes and running out to pick up fast food. Ma-ma is busy with the 3 year old, that calls herself a three-ager, because her older sister is now a teen-ager. Since when does a three-ager think they don't have to do what ma-ma says! If they were not a "no spank" family, ol Pa-pa would fix that situation real fast. Then trying to sleep at night with the three-ager hogging the bed. And we are both retired! I don't know how we raised three children when we were both working! Just now, after I gave the three-ager her bath, I told the other two to take a shower. The older one tried to appeal my decision to a higher authority (Ma-ma). Ma-ma calmly said "oh no, you don't need a shower, you were just scratching your crotch in the glass elevator at the hospital for fun"! She got pissed, stomped past my desk and went and took a shower. Hey, whatever works, right! OK, that's all for now. They did a fluid culture, CT scan and MRI on my daughter today. Tomorrow they should get the blood work back which hopefully will identify the bacteria so they can administer a more specific antibiotic. pa-pa |

I'm not upset or anything. It's just the truth. Hell, it's common.

Most of my working experience with engineers has been with chemical engineers. After they design and build pilot plant, what comes out the other end is either the piece of chemistry we want …. or it's not. There ain't no "sorta" about it. A simple analysis with a gas chromatograph or mass spectrometer will tell the story. Oh well, that reminds me of that cute little chemist down in California …. Time for my pills - |

Like every other job in the world there are good engineers and bad ones. Unfortunately the more brilliant they are the less social skills or common sense they seem to have. Sort of like teachers.

Seems like a problem an engineer would want to solve, you know since they want to make sure things are done the right way the first time and all...
