So because my obd2 wasn’t working I wanted to first check the fuse for it and turns out, it’s all good! Which fuses should I check next? If the fuse for my obd2 is fine, then why isn’t it working? Tomorrow morning a repair shop is going to give me a diagnostic over the phone supposedly but I’ll see what happens. This is my first car and this is my first time dealing with an issue like this. My parking lights don’t work and when I press on the brake pedal the tail lights don’t work either. Yet, when I lock or unlock my car the tail lights and parking lights flash like normal! I am trying to get this resolved ASAP because I need my car and my windows are rolled halfway down and won’t go up after this incident posing a big risk to my car because it is parked in the driveway. I have been covering my cat though so I haven’t worried too much but still, I need my car back.

2013 Scion FR-S Died While Driving

Check OBDII power ( forgot which pins, search how to check OBDII power)

Then look for fuse to ECU

Check for all ground points in engine bay. Clean them with contact cleaners or deOxit

Thank you for your response! I’m looking into having my car looked at professionally since I don’t want to mess anything up on my own and have a bigger problem to face!

Go right back to basics. Check to ensure that the cables clamped to the battery are clean and tight. The battery could show as good but if full power isn't getting out of it then you would have all those symptoms.

Oh, and is the car stock or modified?

I think the car has to be at least in the ON position for OBD-II to work. Not running but at least ON not Accessory. Not sure if you have key or keyless.

When you had your car's battery tested, was it in the car or did you take it out and take it to a shop? Did they do a "load test" on the battery?

Omg it’s you! When I’m on the forums I see you everywhere so for you to be on this thread makes me happy! Haha, anyways, the cables are clean and tight and the car is completely stock other than a muffler delete.

What’s up man? I took the battery out had them test it. My car is parked at my house and I don’t want to have it towed back and forth places. I’m not sure what you mean by a “load” test, but they did check the voltage and said that the battery was normal. Here’s the thing, I seen a video online where a guy with an FR-S couldn’t start his car and it wouldn’t make any noises at startup and all he did was replace the battery and it worked! I still think the battery might be the culprit in some way.

No work done recently? Next step check the big ground cable that is bolted on the bell housing on the passenger side of the car. Can't seem to find a picture right now.

The battery should be load tested. It may have enough voltage to look fine but not enough amperage to run everything or turn it over.

I did have a custom reverse light installed but that was a couple of weeks ago and I also had a friend of mine try to tune my car but he said it didn’t work but I don’t know what he did to my ecu or if he messed anything up on accident.

Ohhhhhh. Well not to scare you but that opens up a whole new range of possibilities. When messing with ECUs anything can happen. Best get it in to somebody that can actually see what is going on.
