Are we running Calaveras to Dublin? I refuse to sit in 680 traffic...

I don't want to split the group or anything but I have been taking this road home for some time now and its much better than 680.

No reason why we can't go this way.

Just FYI this is a mountain pass, nothing dangerous (unless you are an idiot and think Tokyo Drift is real life) but there are no street lights.

I disagree somewhat. Calaveras due to its very narrow lanes and blind corners is one of the local routes that I would not lead a group drive on. I used to drive it quite a bit alone but to be honest it scares me now. You never know when you are going to come around a blind corner and oncoming traffic is not paying attention or staying on their side of the road. Now at the time you are going, I think the majority of traffic will be going your way, but oncoming is always a concern to watch out for.

This is very true. I would like to stress that this is a public road. But like you said, at this time most traffic (1-3 cars max in my experience) is going North, and there is the added bonus of headlights being very visible in the dark. Don't want to force anyone to go this way, but zygrene and I thought this would be the logical route to take to Dublin.

As long as no one drives like as asshat we will be fine! You should lead if you've gone this way before though, I doubt anyone else has.

We can always talk about it at the meet spot before we roll out.

I would have to agree with P on this one. This road is not safe if there is traffic on it. I love this road but only at VERY VERY EARLY times in the morning when everyone is asleep. I would advise to not take a large caravan out there.@ night headlights do help but I wouldn't risk it on a friday night when normal drivers are looking for routes to avoid 680 traffic...... Stay safe PLEASE <3 I'd hate for anyone to damage their car, or even worse, get hurt/accident.

If we wait to leave at 7:30 I can't imagine 680 traffic being to bad, but I hardly leave the South Bay in that direction... I think the Friday rush hour usually starts and ends a little sooner.
