Can anyone confirm that this is okay?

Hello!

This is my first time writing in the forum.
I dont know much about what's going on in the engine room, so please help me out with this real quick.

I have a 2014 dark grey metallic BRZ i recently purchased.
I notice that cabin noise/engine noise is a lot louder than a civic I used to have. i was just looking under the hood one day and found this and was concerned.

Is it normal to have this hose taped with a black tape like this?
And also there is a sharp cut in the middle?? Why is there a open cut in a tube??

Thank you for your answer in advance!!!!

I hope the pictures got attached properly.. hm....

This is standard practice to protect wiring

You're leaking electrons from that hose, go to the dealer immediately.

The twins have a sound generator that pipes intake noise into the cabin...

You can remove it, or plug it to quiet things down:

In case it's not clear by what was posted above, that's not a hose. That's wire loom, which is a kind of conduit that has electrical wires running through it. It protects the wires. The cut is normal, because that's how you get the wires inside it--it just wraps around the wires instead of having to have the wires fished through it. The tape is normal, because it's being used to hold the loom closed.

This is a noisy car, but as noted above, you can make it less noisy. There is a cigarette lighter plug up inside the glove box in the passenger side dash. It has a plastic plug in it. Pull that plug out of there. Then peel down the carpet in the passenger side footwell, and you'll see a little hole there. The plastic plug will fit in that hole and block the sound tube so that you don't hear as much engine noise inside the car. The sound tube is a useless feature whose only purpose is to pipe intake noise into the car to make it sound faster.

You will still get a lot of road noise, mostly from the tires. You will also hear more exhaust noise if you have the rear seat down. If you want to make it quieter, you'll need to look into applying sound deadening mats around the car, which increases weight. I don't really think it's worth it.
