Admin Fees
So Scion web site lists the following for a manual car:
MSRP 25,990 Admin Included Freight/PDI 1495 Fed AC Tax 100 Tire Levy 20 Subtotal: 27,605 Now as far as I'm concerned other than GST/HST that's out the door pricing. But a few dealers have another set of Admin fees tacked on - one is 495, one is 695 (claim security/reg/etc) even though Scion specifically says it's included. I have my own plate and can have my insurance card emailed to my phone in a matter of minutes. What is everyone else seeing? I don't want to be fighting with the finance guy after the car arrives. |

It supports OMVIC. Very important if you have a problem with your dealer or salesperson.
http://www.omvic.on.ca/ Admin fees are pure profit for the dealer. It usually includes that "window etching" garbage too. I would point out that Scion says its included and if they won't budge on it, find another dealer. |

Bull. You tell them you're paying for the car as it comes from the factory and only any fees to get it licensed(if you need to the dealer to get you new plates, or set up your registration for you, which is fair and isn't more than what your gov transportation charge you directly) and any gov mandated taxes/fees, but anything else they seem to have deemed or claim to add as a "value add" for their customers, tell them that's their problem they added it cause you didn't ask for it. Be willing to wait for another car(I know we all what this car bad, but if you don't want their BS extras, be prepared to wait or just pay since it may be an in demand car the first little while), cause if they really want to sell it to you, those extras costs will disappear. A lot of dealers pull this crap, just need to call them on it. Tried with us on our Mazda 5. We just stood and got ready to leave, and all of a sudden, it's no problem, they'll throw them in. Agreed, even if you haven't discussed it yet when the paperwork gets written up simply put a line through the "admin" fee. I already told my dealer I'm not paying it and they're fine with that.

dont pay for EXTRA admin fees, because you already pay it in the MSRP as stated on the scion.ca website.
each time i bought a new car, i NEVER pay more than MSRP. i dont give a sht what kind of fees is that, i just say NO. alot of dealer with who i have deal with have tried to add some weird fees, saying its governement, its the guy that plate your car, its thats organisme, its not us...blah blah blah. answer to that, so what? scion said its 27,605$ +tx....then just pay 27,605$ +tx. thats it, thats all. |
