Okay, so I crunched the MPG numbers tonight

The car trip/mpg were reset at EVERY fill up.

I installed the underbody panels and new wheels/tires in the same week, so unfortunately this is not completely reflective of underbody panels only.

Also, keep in mind that the car was purchased brand new, so MPG going up could also be attributed to break in.

I almost(of all 32 fill ups, I've used the same pump/station 25 times) fill at the same station and pump.

Reported MPG is what the car says on the dash, Actual is my trip meter divided by how many gallons were put in.

Wheels and tires are Yoshihara DY-12C(21lbs-I weighed them myself) and Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tires(245/40/18)-no weight, sorry.

12 Fill ups BEFORE underbody panels/wheels and tires:
Reported by car: 30.24 MPG
Actual: 29.16 MPG

20 Fill ups AFTER underbody panels/wheels and tires:
Reported by car: 29.87 MPG
Actual: 30.08 MPG

Average of all 32 fill ups is 29.73 MPG(actual)

So, since the underbody panel install and wheels/tires, my MPG has INCREASED.
Plus, your tire circumference is 4.48% larger, so your odometer is off by that amount. So, the real numbers are actually 1.3mpg higher than you thought.

Great DIY!
I'm really considering doing this on my car, but I am a bit worried. I live in Denmark, Scandinavia, where we have a lot of salt on the roads every winter.
Those of you, who have installed these underpanels, do you think this would protect the underneath of the car better than stock, or would it still allow lots of dirt and salt in and just hide it until it's too late?
Thanks in advance!

Nice write up

Just one thing i would add.

Where you removed the plastic clips which were painted, there is bare metal showing once those are gone. I'd spray on some sort of rust proofing/paint those.

I dont live somewhere where we have snow/salt, but I think it would do a decent job of protecting the underside.

Since you could remove the panels, it might be beneficial to install for a winter and remove after to see if anything made it on the inside.

Anyone else?

Excellent diy Shutter
Great part numbers Gunman
Two years ago I installed these on my daughters car and proclaimed they improve fuel economy, I was shredded for it.
Thank you for proving it makes a difference
The car also has a Type 2 diffuser from DWL as well, it's definitely quieter and smoother than a stock one
