Ok, I have an email back regarding the servicing costs, but they are basically giving me a run around. no one can tell me what is included in a 7500km service and what parts are replaced at that service. Get the feeling they do not know how to do this service.

Recommended oil is 0W20. Use of 5W30 if the preferred oil is not available is ok, but it must be replaced with 0W20. Might have to escalate this to Toyota in Japan.

Maybe we can email Toyota Japan in regards of the pricing too.

A few days ago a friend of mine test drove the 86 and asked about the running costs.. They answered him the following: AED 400-500 per 7500 km service... Which is strange as different 86 owners seem to be billed different amounts of money for the same service..

I dont trust alfuttam employees at all. Each one of them have different openion. For my car they said every 7500km when I bought it. Then when I took it for 1000km service they said the next service at 5000km.
Two days later they phoned back to tell me it should be at 7500km. Last week I got a call from the service center to take my car at 5000km for the service. Im going when it reaches 7500km.

One more thing, I asked about the service contract its 5500 aed for 6 services, which is about 915 aed for each service too expensive

I find that servicing every 5,000kms no matter the car is a good option in Dubai because of the dust and heat. When I bought a 5 year old Jaguar XJ8 GCC specs, I was servicing it as per dealer recommendations (roughly every 8,000kms as the computer told me too).I noticed that after 5,000kms I had the regular red alert low coolant popping up and other random messages as well.I went to AAA instead of Al Tayer and they recommended I serviced every 5,000kms and never had any red alerts or random messages after that.In fact by leaving it to the computer to decide when service was done, I ran the risk of having far more expensive service bills as a result (it happened once and that' when I switch to AAA). Just a thought.

The Toyota 86 owners manual says service is at every 15000km.
The service Handbook issued by Al Futtaim ( not Toyota ) says that sevice is every 5000 km.
I bought my 86 in Aug '12 and I raised the issue with Al Futtaim, they said that they will take up the issue internally, meaning that, I shall not be informed of the developments.
During my 5000km service I was charged AED610 like some of you.
I had to go back to Al Futtaim as I had an unequal rear camber issue and during one of the visits, I was given the service charges as attached.
Sorry, I do not know the URL of my image of the service charges, so I am unable to post it.
Anyway it is Dhs1010 for 7500km, Dhs1225 for15000km, Dhs1015 for 22500km and so on.
Even though the sevice as per the service hand book is decided by Al Futtaim, they have also mentioned "services as per owners manual" for warranty purposes.
the owners manual says that we can do some of the maitainence, like oil change and bulb replace by ourselves and have provided instructions on how to do it.
So, I'll do the 7500km service (only oil change and some fluid top ups' are required) myself and have Al Futaim do the 15000km services.
If, Al Futtaim does not honour any warranty issues, I am sure I can take them to court or the Consumer Protection forum.
I assure you guys that if you plan to take up this issue as a group or club, you can count me in.

Thanks for the info Vick.I would still be worried of invalidating my warranty should I service the car myself. Remember to read the small print as it may contain exclusions invalidating you warranty should you do this or that and be proved you did it wrong. Also having to take one of the largest most established businesses to court may be wishful thinking even if you were in the right.

Hi guys,
have just put down payment for a silver MT today.
I asked the same question to the salesperson, he said service is cheap, 400-500 every 5000 KM. LOL.

Anyway looking at the service cost of AED 610/5000 km vs AED 1010/7500 km, basically you are paying almost the same per km (610 is a bit cheaper).

I have read the service schedule from other countries, if I am not mistaken in AUS the interval is 15000 km or a year whichever is sooner. But there is a footnote that under extreme conditions the interval is halved.

So I guess with our climate it will be better to follow the same: 6 months or 7500 km. Unless if you drive much, then it is a different calculation.

With my last car I barely put 10K in a year.

alright now, better news just talked to Fizzo and he just did his 15K service he was only charged 823AED to be exact rather than the 1200AED for 15k service. not certain for the 7500KM service but as per our calculation it should only cost 580AED.

@7500km service they told me the next service would be due @ 12000km which I should be taking by next week. It would be interesting to see how much they charge and when the service after that would be due. Ill keep you guys updated.
