If I ever became rich, first car I would buy would either be a Ford GT or Viper ACR.

Last week, I saw a mustard yellow GT on the side of the road, parked next to a bunch of Lamborghinis and Ferraris. I barely even noticed the other cars lol.

Yeah, not that I wouldn't love to own a Ferrari or Lambo, but the Ford GT holds a special place in my heart .

There is actually a yellow GT40 that I see every Friday that drives by my house on the way to a local weekly car show. I've seen it up close in person once and holy crap is that thing low!!! You don't realize how low 40" is for a car till you see it in person. Not sure if its a replica or an original. It has a V8 in it and I know the race car version that ran in the LeMans was a V10, but I am not too keen on what motor the road version came with.

If you appreciate the 86 then you would probably lean towards classic cars instead of the computerized automated stuff they have now, but that's probably just me.
...a very small percentage of people here do. The others are just now finishing season 2 of Initial D and enjoy calling their RWD Subaru an 86.

...aaaaaaaaand cue the comments of recently acquired knowledge from Google.

Have a look at the current issue of Road and Track; it's all about super cars, past and present. After reading it, I am even less interested in owning an exotic. The article about the cars of Miami Vice is a pretty unflinching look at the problems of owning a "classic" Lamborghini. It's also pretty funny.

Gallardo would be my choice...won't ever happen, but that would be what I'd look into first if I ever got to that point.

The Gallardo is pretty cool, and I know that stats disagree but I feel its faster and better handling than the Murci. It's lighter and feels like it holds the road better.

Don't get me wrong, I love the exotics, and appreciate them for what they are, but I could never fork over the money for one. Once you get much above the price of the C7 'Vette it just becomes stupid money for me, and its not all about the acquisition cost.

There is very little I hate more than paying repair costs, except repair/parts costs inflated because of the badge on the hood.

I will own a C7 some day, and will buy it used, because I know I could drive it easy to 200K miles or more with minimal maintenance costs, and if there is something wrong with it, parts will be available, and hourly rates will be the same as someone working on pretty much any other mainstream car.

With the money left over, I'll do something stupid/crazy to the 86, or maybe buy a couple of old muscle cars.

Funny no one mentioned the 458 Italia. Possibly the best driver's car .... IMHO.

It is. The Murci is seriously outdated. Do you get your G serviced at MoG? Is it E-gear?

My realistic supercar aspiration is an NSX. If you want to talk about a logical car to move into that emulates the balance between power and handling, it's an excellent example. Also considering that it's reasonable to assume that many Twin owners are import fans, I think the NSX makes a lot of sense. Although, traditionally the S2K is the first step towards an NSX. Regardless, that will be my goal. Along with a restored AE86 lightly modified.
