The 2015 WRX/STi will be available in a few weeks, and the reviews on the handling are VERY favorable. A base STi starts at ~36k and falls well within your budget. That will definitely have the power you're looking for but seems to be built using what Subaru learned from the FT-86, so it should be even more tossable and fun than it is now.

That said it doesn't have a Lexus badge.
My main issue with going with something not Toyota or Lexus or scion is the new car tax
I.e. Driving a car off the lot and its worth less than you paid for it.
The employee pricing counteracts that so when I go to sell it for the next car I take way less of a hit. Plus not many other brands retain resale value like Toyota and Lexus does.

Basically I learned my lesson by going against my Dads advice and buying my Mazda just to spite him. I love my Mazda other than when it blows the pos ford motor that's in it. But if I had bought a Camry at the time instead of the Mazda I would have a lot more equity left in it. Which would in turn have made for a cheaper cost of ownership leaving me even more money for a new car.

That Lexus badge is very inticing that's why since someone brought up the RC350 I have been spending the last several hours looking up every scrap of info I can find on it.

Also a Lexus is easier to name. Just name her Sexy Lexi.

I understand comparing sports cars to sports cars.

I understand comparing sport touring sedans to like vehicles.

Why not compare Smart Cars and Ferrari's.

Comparing an FR-S to an IS 350 F-Sport? There is no comparison as the only thing they have in common is they are cars.

Well, they do both have doors. Four wheels. Rear wheel drive. Paint. Interior. Engines. Transmissions. Windows. Electrical systems. Stereo?

They are nothing alike, and hence there is no comparison. If a person needs people on the internet to help them make up their mind, there is something seriously wrong.

What size jacket should I buy? I should do a poll on what size everyone else wears, and then base my decision on that relevant data.

The op stated he has driven both, and still needs opinions from the internet. Really?
you can try to make it sound like its not a common thing to happen but it happens so i dont know what to tell you. believe it or not, there are people who can appreciate more than one quality that can be found in a car.

I would say maybe the new ones with Mazda's own sky active engine but my 07 Mazda 6 has what's called Mazda's MZR23 motor which is basically a rebranded Duratec23 motor heck the engine block and head have FoMoCo stamped on them. The block and all internals part numbers are the exact same as the 07 Ford Fusion part numbers.

My dads advice was "never ever buy a 4 cylinder car from Ford or Gm, 6 or 8 fine go ahead but for 4 go to Toyota Honda or Nissan"

Also my Mazda has only ever gotten 25 MPG at best. Which is shitty for a mid size sedan.

This is probably one of the most informative spec pieces on the RC350. Its the pre-broduce. So this might be of some help to you if you haven't seen it yet.

I have a GT86 and an IS350 F-Sport.

Works for me - IS350 for daily/commute/drives with the wife, dogs etc.

GT86 for me.

OK so I've decided I'm going to wait for the RC350 to come out and then test drive it and see how I like it. Also since its not coming out till later this year and will presumably cost more than the IS350 it will give me more time to save up for more of a down payment than what I already have saved.

The IS350 Fsport weight at 3,600lbs and the up coming RC350/RCF is even heavier in the 3,800lbs - 3900 lbs if I recall the info correctly. Anyway, it will be a fast heavy weight car. Weight almost 1,000 lbs more than the twin is a scary beast
