I dont want to speak for Vivid but I'm willing to bet he's still sleeping, and had said he would post up more info when he was back up...

I have to say Kudos to Vivid Racing for doing this to clear up the confusion, and for not stooping to the level of the trolls and forum warriors, and posting information in a well written and thought out manner that wasnt condescending or overly defensive.

I for one have found where most of my business for my FR-S will be going to...and boy do I have some work to get done

I still think it is in the members' interest to separate the gains of the $130 pulley from the $1000 ($600 header and $400 mid/over-pipe) extra exhaust parts.

Would suck for someone buying the headers/mid to find out the pulley produces half of those gains...

Didn't Mike do a run without pulley? I thought he did? Well either way, we'll prob get more info when Mike wake up & answer few questions & upload more stuff

Cat-back with no pulley. But headers, midpipe and pulley were all together. That one gain for 3 individual components.

Or did I miss this on one of the other threads?

3rd gear.... that explains it.

I suspect that if other manufacturers were dynoing in 3rd instead of 5th which is 1.000 and is the standard from what I've learned they would show stronger exhaust gains.

Not trying to start (or continue any bashing) I guess it's entirely possible that you don't know this. Though I suspect this is a conscious decision for marketing purposes. Still nothing technically wrong with it as your gains are legit.

It does bring to mind, however, the subject of television contrast ratios. There is no industry standard in terms of measuring contrast ratio and that means that TV 1 from Manufacturer A could have a stated 1,000,000:1 ratio while TV 2 from Manufacturer B could have a stated 10,000:1 ratio yet they could perform identically or TV 2 could even perform better.

Basically if you compare 2 TVs from 1 manufacturer the contrast ratio will give an idea of how they perform compared to each other but when you start shopping across multiple manufacturers it's all just marketing. The numbers are meaningless.

Finally we have a good thread! Third times a charm. Alot of people doubted getting to the 200whp mark with bolt-on's but its finally here. Imagine a year from now maybe 210-220whp from bolts ons? Just dreaming

Actually we doubted the 40 whp gain from the exhaust, not the 200 whp so much. Every dyno is different. This data still doesn't show the gains they originally claimed though.

It's still missing a lightweight flywheel on this dyno vs original dyno... but even w that, don't expect to see 14whp gain just from lightweight flywheel.

If they did w flywheel (plus all other mods) run and made 29~40whp gain from base run then that's pretty good claim I think

I have no problem with these claims other than it was done in third gear. They picked up 26 whp with full exhaust and pulley. That's in line with the other shops.

1.1 is better for getting accurate whp gain... but it's not like they did 5th gear on base run and 3rd gear on modded run. all was done on exact same gear run.

Which is why I have no problem with these numbers. I care more about the gains and those should be consistent.

First off I would like to thank everyone involved in getting this data to us. I know it was a lot if work and I hope out all pans out positively for you.

No, it is not the 40whp and 20tq originally posted, but it is showing significant gains more inline with what others are posting. In addition, the information is clear and concise with the major parts being broken down. I feel this is a significant step showing you are interested in these products and are taking significant steps to repair any negative image you might have had, so kudos.

I think more vendors should show data to help prove their product, and we as a forum should figure out a way to reward those vendors who do take that extra step (re:accelerated, perrin, and now vivid etc).
