Email from Key Toyota Engineer regarding FT86

I was checking the club4ag forums and noticed the site administrator Moto-P who was initially contacted by Toyota regarding the whole FT86 project when they started it received an e-mail from an engineer regarding the car...

"FT86 is being developed with full understanding that it needs to be easy to maintain and allow for future customization by end-users. We are at Nurburgring and already it feels as precise and balanced as the LFA, and we are developing it further."

--via email from a key engineer in development, Toyota Japan, roughly translated from Japanese language..

Just thought everyone would want to see that if you haven't seen it already. Gives me a lot of hope that this car will feel amazing to drive which is exactly what I'm looking for in my next car.

I don't mind them taking their time to get it right, particularly so I can get some funds together to actually get one.

I'm glad to hear about all the time and effort going in to this car. The LF-A took nearly a decade to bring into production, and it still looks as awesome as it was in the concepts.

Depends on when you start haha. Either way I hope it gets all of the production attention in deserves.

joint venture doesn't mean that both Subaru and Toyota engineers come together into one room and build a car. Subaru cannot speak for Toyota and Toyota cannot speak for Subaru. Think of it as a divided contracting deal.

What this means is that Subaru, FHI, and Toyota Project planners & coordinators came together into one room and built a project proposal which contracted each company's engineers into building the car separately. Its apparent based on the amount of tangible information that flows from each company on what was developed inhouse.

My guess, Chassis Toyota / Powertrain Subaru / Drivetrain Toyota / Suspension Subaru / Braking system Toyota/

Each was to do their part and then come together under Toyota flag first, I believe this is the reason why there has not been a Subaru FT Concept car yet.

Wow, those are some huge shoes to fill! So I guess we can dub this car the poor man's LFA!

Precisely what the FT-86 is all about! Not about raw power, but pure balance, just like the LFA! Considering that the LFA did a 75.1mph in InsideLine's slalom test, I have very high hopes for the FT-86's handling capabilities if the engineers do compare it to the LFA!

You know, when SOA said so, I really doubt it. Saying Subaru does both cars is really broad(you can think of anything or everything), it's like saying Subaru developing sport and rebadge to Toyota/Scion.
