ATTN SUBARU: Don't screw up this car.
I'm tired of all your ugly cars, and I don't plan on handing you my money until I enjoy looking at them. I know its vain, but when I have over 10 years of safe efficient cars to choose from, my premium dollar will be spent on something I have no regrets on. Oh, and give it a cooler name please. Brat, Rex, STI. Us forum members would be so ecstatic if you posted here. I have to imagine that one of your employees knows of our existence.

Bee are zed?
Bee are zee? Bees? Bees! Beeeees! Beeeees! BRZ reminds me if Nick Cage's acting. BRZ makes me think of BR549. STIBRZ? Nah, they should have put a G in there to make the car a STIG. Hey why can't they just name the car 'Stig' and pay off those TopGear folks? BRZ sounds like a dry fart. BRZ sounds like an electrical problem. Z is for Zenith...why not just name the car Zenith? Nissan already makes a Z-car. Subaru already had letters WRXSTI. Why are they going after all of the other good Scrabble letters? Is there a triple word score nearby? What about Q, Subaru? Ten points, brz. Is the BRZ commercial going to play the southern rock classic "They call me the Breeze"? |

Phonetically it sounds like "burrs" to me. It's an odd name, but it doesn't bother me. I'd end up calling it the Bee Arr Zee anyway.

Very nice. I like the name, but at the end I don't care how the Subaru or Toyota are called. Now it is going to be a very tough choice: Toyota or Subaru? I don't know which of them will have more after market parts, but I'll take the more radical one to make it even more radical.

Burs was the first thing I thought too. And that it reminds me of the CRZ.

i think it will be like their last concept, since this one is the "architecture concept" as well
a plexi/perspex shell that vaguelly resemebers a fastback, with the actual technology on display such as the possibly or close to production engine, gearbox, diff, axles, suspension and parts of the chassis. i honestly dont think they will have a skin over theirs.. its clear to me that subi is doing 99% of the engineering behind this (with rumored heads being 1% by yamaha) and toyota is just making it look purty

I'm starting to think that the only reason that car companies are now stuck with un-inspiring alpha-numeric car names is because all the truly inspiring car names are spoken for.

I think they could come up with something inspiring if they spent the time and effort.

I like the name when you break it down. BRZ might not even be the full name, but the concept name similar to FR-S (Front engine, rear drive, Scion). If thats the case, it might just be called the Zenith, which is pretty sick.
zenith (n.) 1. the highest point reached by a celestial or other object 2. the point in the sky or celestial field directly above the observer 3. the time at which something is most powerful or successful Perfect name, IMO. "Subaru" is the Japanese word for the Pleiades, a star cluster (see Subi logo) that holds significant meaning in dozens of cultures. Definition #1 and #3 portrays the power and success that the brand hopes to generate with RWD coupe entry that --according to Subaru-- will blow the competition away. |
