Had a fantastic time at Zwartkops skid pan yesterday. All in all I think I counted ten (10) 86s - we were definitely representing hard.

It was my first time doing anything like that, but I think I only managed to maintain a slide in my very last open session. The wife and I will definitely be making it a regular thing I think - she enjoyed it just as much as I did.

Its been a while since my last write up. I have done a lot of driving since then and now seems a good time to revisit what I have learned.

I have got some RE11s on my A-line rims and some RE003s on my stock ones. The 86 still surprises me at how much it changes character depending on the tyres.

Just had a fanatastic 2 days at RedStar, got to really use the semis on the second day (day 1 was cold and damp and I drove on the RE003s)

The semis are just amazing, the front end is so connected and the slip angle allows for nice little slides to tighten your line. It did take quite a few laps to really "get to grips" (sorry!) with the semis.

After being used to road tyres I really had to commit to get the most out of the semis and it took some steel to really use their potential. But once I started to trust them they were really fast.

I got a personal best laptime and it was so much fun to really push the car. I have uploaded a video of my fastest time of the day.

As I mentioned previously this is all subjective but I will say I think the RE003 is the best road tyre I have tried by a long way. After my hot-lap on the semis I went back the RE003s and they not as fast but surprisingly close to the semis. They are more communicative and slide so nicely. I think they are more fun than the semis, Amazing tyres!

Don't think about it. Just buy RE003s

So, I have learned first hand, all the 86 needs is brakes and tyres. If you wanna go fast just do those and then spend all the rest of your money on more tyres and seat time.

Having said that my next upgrades will be a rollcage, harnesses and weight reduction

I think I may a have a real problem. I may have contracted a severe case of "Race-itis". The doctor said it's made up condition. But, I strongly disagree and am seeking a second opinion...

Thanks to all the people who helped make the last 2 days the best track days ever!

Nice, it’ll be interesting to see what happens to those lap times now!
