Turn off caps lock. There's no need to yell.
Every review I've read said the shifter is really good. Where did you rea that?

Ditto on the CAPS lock comment.

And there is no substance to any report that the gearbox is clunky, I have driven one and it is one of better ones around.

I drove the manual at the 1st 86 event and while it was a bit notchy it did shift well and competently. I would imagine once it's broken in it would loosen up a bit.

Same gearbox that is in the RX-8 and last 2 generation of Miatas. It's pretty solid for the amount of horsepower/torque we would push through it. The syncros are not super strong, but guys with boosted Miatas are running them with no big issues.

OP, I haven't heard any such thing.

The only problem I've heard with previous versions of the gearbox was that you really have to be careful with the gearbox until it's broken in. Premature failure was a problem on the early RX-8. That doesn't mean the new ones are the same but it's something to keep in mind.

Its notchy when cold but becomes fluid with more miles and heat. Brand new the tranny didnt feel that great, but Ive got almost 700miles on mine now and it feels good.

The only issue I have, and this may be user-error, is downshifting from 5th to 4th is a bit weird. I keep hitting the gate and not getting it into gear. Im used to my CL which has a very short shifter and all solid bushings.
